Ace detonated, orange and red flames going everywhere, the heat melting the snow in second, and all the falling snow around us where non-existent.
And his fire was licking at the hem of my cloak, smoldering.
"Ace..." I whisper, every breath I took, much less word caused ripples of pain.
"Sh." He says as a ring of fire spikes up around us.
"Your..burning..."
"Nyx. Be quiet."
"ACE!" I cry as loudly as I could manage.
He looks down, slightly angry, "WHA-" his flame dies down several degrees "Sorry..."
Then another tearing pain in my opposite shoulder, causing me to let out a low moan that was mixed with a scream.
Ace couldn't seem to find who was sending the piercing pains.
Meanwhile, my vision was dotting black, my breathing heavy.
"Ace..." I whisper, my knuckles white from the grasp I had on my cloak.
When the third pain hit I dropped into blackness.
Ace's yell was the last distant thing I heard.
I lay on the ground, my mouth dry.
The blinding golden light was everywhere. And in a sudden pulse it was gone, and a feminine low, powerful, and matured voice rung out, it was oddly familiar, but I couldn't pin point where.
As if I'd dreamt it long ago.
"So much rests on your shoulders, you ignorant, stupid, thing."
I could make out her figure in the now white light."Yet, you do nothing. You stand in the side lines, your job before you left unattended to." Her voice filled with disgust.
"You're losing time. They will rise. And you will see then what happens when you misuse your gifts and betray destiny."
Her words seemed to shake with anger.
"You have more than their humanity and lives resting on your shoulders. You have ours too. But you yet to act..."
Her voice begins to fade, along with the light.
"Don't forget what I said....remember-"
The last word she said was something I couldn't comprehend, it was blurred and missaid, and faded into nothing.
I lay in the darkness paralyzed.
A dark voice hisses, as if it was whispering it in my ear... inside of my head, it said, "Yous ares a failures. . . buts. . . yous longs fors yours success. The one theys stoles froms yous."
Then it was eery and silent.
Nothing.
Not even my breathing, then slowly as if waking from a heavy sleep I felt the sun behind my eyelids, and heard the bustle of a busy kitchen.
I groan as I open my eyes, the sunlight starting a pounding headache.
Then a slight shriek, and a familiar neko came rushing over. "You're awake!" She cried hugging me, then hit me on top of the head, causing my headache to triple in pain. "You moron!! Going into town like that!! Leaving me here to wake up to some strange shirtless guy carrying you around like a rag doll!" She sighs, raising a rolled piece of smoldering paper to her smooth naturally dark pink lips and takes a long drawn out drag, holding it then, lets it out in a puff of smoke.
My expression must be too surprised, because she says simply, "Catnip. It's my fix. . . I lost it when I landed here after-"
She stops talking turning around and continues to make whatever she may be making.
Then the door to the ship's kitchen swings open and in comes my big brother. Shirtless. And with a smirk I was very much so tempted to slap off his face. Reason? He was scanning Kiti up and down in her tiny dress with its lacy apron and her white stockings. Her tail flicks back and forth, emitting from under her skirt.
"Some nerve." I say flatly unamused. It was unlike Ace. . .
Then the girl with the white hair whips around, holding a platter of sizzling fish, her cleavage bulging, her right ear bent, and her eyes wide, pouring out a sex appeal.
She saunters past Ace, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye, her lips in a tiny smile, running her tail along his pants, up and down the inside of the leg, and along the belt while she busies herself with the silverware and table setting.
My jaw hits the ground, my face almost as red as Ace's. But I wasn't grinning.
I leap up and separate the action and contact between the two.
"Neko Nyx... it seems you've found more of your kind." He comments in a smart ass tone.
I punch him, then grab him by the ear, dragging him away and slamming the door behind me.
"What... in....the....world.... was that?" I hiss, my temples throbbing.
He shrugs, his smirk still on his face. "I don't know, but the lovely lady seems to like me."
I facepalm mumbling my curses.
"Where are we heading?" I question, changing the subject classily.
"Alabastia. Once there, we have to go our separate ways..." He says causally, a warm breeze playing with my hair."Oh. . ." I say, it made sense, I, after all, was a marine, he a pirate. "How long was I out?"
"Five days." He said simply, and my jaw drops.
"Five days?!" I squeak, wide eyed.
"Yup." He says with a shrug and I turn with a sigh and disappear into the kitchen, planing to find some pain killer for my head, instead my eyes land on the flirtatious cat. Change of plans. . .
"Kiti." I hiss, "What was that?"
She turns, "Huh?" She asks, wide eyed and 'innocent'
"The thing with my younger brother, in which I've just been reunited with after three years, but yet, I find him flirting with the person I've known with less than a week."
Before I could countire my scolding the door opens and Ace enters, holding the newspaper, skimming an article.
I sigh, turning to the window, watching the sea, thinking, while Kiti questions Ace on pirate related things.
The idea was working its way through my head. Something more than illegal, much less dangerous.
"Amazing...pirates..." Whispers Kiti to Ace.
But the scary part was, I wanted to go through with it.
I turn around to look at my brother and my new companion.
I am going to go through with it.
