Tuesday, June 11th,

Two colours swarm around a crowded school yard, students yell, and laugh as music plays from speakers. Small children play games older children run. The entire school is abuzz with excitement, for the first time; it's an all play day.

Today was our Spirit Day, which is a play day for the school. This is in place of our usual fun fair, or Gymathon/ Skatathon. Pretty much all the grade eights had a job, an event to run, either for our kindergartens, grade 1-3, or grade 4-6. The grade 7s were "leaders" for the grade 4-6.

Yesterday, in fact was the day we were suppose to have it, but, it was raining, and since Spirit Day was taking place outside, we had to postpone it.

I'm sure your still a little confused, eh?

Well, last week, Mrs C, you know, our vice principal called all us grade eights down to our activity room, and explained the idea to us. I thought it was absolutely brilliant! It sounded like so much fun! A day just to wear school colours, eat yummy food, and play!

Friday, we were all called down, and we were given our partners, as well as a chance to pick our activity. I was mildly disappointed to find out that Mary got put with Summer, and that I was with Lexi. Truly, if I could have chosen, I would have picked Mary as my partner, but I digress.

Lexi wanted to do the grade 4-6s, but almost all the groups were there, so I convinced (more like pulled a grumbling person) over to the grade 1-3s. I was hoping we would get the parachute; I know it's a fun activity, because it was one of my favourites when I was younger.

However, these boys, who aren't even very well behaved most of the time I should add, got it, and so Lexi and I got Beach Ball Bop. Almost immediately Lexi began telling me how we should do all these complex games she learned in camp. All I could think was that we had young kids, so why don't we just play the game. I conveyed my displeasure at trying to do harder games, and told her we would ask Mrs C about the other games.

At the end of that day, we asked, and we were allowed to play one of the games Lexi wanted to, plus got another idea!

Now, fast forward over the weekend, and yesterday, and we land on today. The sky was a little cloudy, and mist dampened the air. It was just warm enough for us to go out.

Us grade eights met in the gym to get the equipment for our activity, all of us sitting with our partners. Everyone, that is, except me.

That would be because Lexi wasn't at school, and its not like she wasn't here yesterday and not today. No, she hasn't come to school yet this week, therefore, I was alone. Until I told Mrs C, and she asked another grade eight girl, Sophie, who was in a group of three to be my partner.

Sophie is nice, and I'm glad I got to be her partner, since we are friends a little.

All of us went out and set up our stations, then waited for the kids. Sophie and I kept having to chase after the beach balls because it was windy, as well as blow them up, because they went flat quickly. There was even two sets of inflatable lips! Yes, we did take pictures for our Yearbook.

Before we actually started our events, we had this dancing warm up thing, and it was so fun! Each grade eight that came up (some stayed back at their event) had two of these pompom things in our school colours, and we were standing and dancing up front with the woman who was leading the dance! As well as Mrs C! It was so much fun, and when it was finished, we even got to keep a pompom each!

Lets go to before lunch, when the whole school got freezies, yeah, that's right; freezies! Upon completing the before mentioned snack, the whole school went inside to have lunch, for some, that meant waiting for the food they ordered, for me, it meant eating my sub.

However, all the grade eights got a chance to go to the jar room first, I was hoping for something a little better, but instead, I got black licorice candies. Yuk! I hate black licorice.

I digress...

The school wasn't completely quick enough with the food, and my class ended up getting it last, meaning we had almost our entire French class before we went back outside! How great right!?!?!?!

After lunch, it was a bit warmer outside, and Sophie and I had more groups. In almost every group, their was at least one grade 3 from the class I lunch-help in. It was funny, some of them would come up and hug me, or say hi, and others would ignore me completely, trying to be all cool around their friends.

At the very end of the day, we all got ice cream, and the grade eights got theirs first! It was a little melted, but still tasted awesome, so yummy. We all hung out together, and I decided to go up and thank Mrs C for organizing the event. I'm pretty sure I was the only one who did, which is sad...
