I wake up to Mark pounding on my door, and I glare up at him as he walks into my room. My hair is falling in front of my eyes, and my eyes are full of fire." Come on! Time for school! First Day of School!" He shouts in a way too enthusiastic tone for it being six in the morning. I groan very loud, and flop the pillow over my head." Come on sweetie, it's only six hours." He says, and I roll my eyes as I start to get dressed. I mumble to myself as I do. I pull my shirt off in front of him, and he sees my back scars fully for the first time. I grab a deep blue hoodie that's a size too big on me, black jeans, converses, and a black beanie to cover my hair. I grab the book bag full of supplies Mark bought for me yesterday, and pull it onto my back. I yawn loudly, and walk downstairs with Mark. We leave the apartment, and get into Mark's car." We'll get some coffee so we aren't too early." Mark says, and he looks fully awake. As if he was awake at four in the morning and never went back to bed.

He parks in front of a coffee shop I've never heard of before. It has different kinds of coffees and hot chocolates, and I'm really confused. Mark and I walk in, and Mark is greeted by a fan who works there. I can't see over the counter, and Mark asks what I want." Can I have a plain hot chocolate? No whip cream?" I ask, and he nods." One coffee with sugar and cream, and one regular hot chocolate with no whip cream." He pays her, and also takes a picture with her." Here, this is for Lyca. On the house." The fan says, and hands Mark a fluffy teddy bear with white fur." What do you say Lyca?" Mark asks me as he hands me the bear." Thank you." I say as I try to look over the tall the counter. We sit in a booth, and drink our drinks slowly." They told me that you'll have to take a practice test for your classes, so they know what classes to put you in." I nod, and scratch the table a little with my fingers." You nervous?" He asks, and I nod." I just...I can never make friends, it's difficult. With all the scars and such, people don't really like talking to me." I tell him, and he smiles at me." Lyca, you'll do great, don't stress yourself over the little things."

I have to admit that he's right, and he says we should get going. He drives me to the school, and I get out." You want me to bring you inside?" He asks, and I shake my head." No, I'm okay. I'll see you after school?" I ask, and he nods." Yep, right here." I wave goodbye to him, and the front door opens." Hello Ms. Parker, we've been expecting you." It's the principle. She's really tall with black heels, black dress pants, black shirt. She's dark skinned, and has frizzy black hair." Come along, lets get everything done as quick as we can." She says in a nice tone, and I follow her into the building. She brings me into an office area. In the back there is a small table with a test on it, she tells me this is where I'll take it." May I listen to music so I'm not distracted?" I ask with my voice very low." Of course, but please use earbuds." She says, and I nod. Mark had given me his extra cell phone in case I needed anything. I pull some ear buds I had found out of my pocket, and plug it in to the phone. I play some piano and rain noises that were already on the phone, and take the test. It takes me less than a minute to finish it, and I turn it in to the principle." Okay, let's see." She looks through the packet, then stares up at me in shock." You got them all right, every last one." She says, and pulls her glasses off.

"Lyca, most seniors would get at least one wrong on this, you got them all correct. I think it would in your best interest if you were put into the freshman class." I feel my heart beat rise, and I smile at her." That sounds wonderful." I tell her, and she smiles at me." Great, let me get your new schedule." She leaves her office, then comes back with a piece of paper. It has my schedule, my locker, and my lunch times. I stare up at her for a moment, then leave her office. The front desk lady gives me a pass, and I go to my new locker. I pull the lock off, and put my bag in there. I get my notebooks and my pencil case, then walk toward the Art room. The door is at the end of the long corridor, and has a small window in it. I can see a class being taught inside, and I slowly open the door. The door closes behind me, and I'm stared at by the a class full of Freshman. Fourteen year olds. I swallow hard, and the teacher comes over to me." Hello Lyca, it's great to meet you." He says, and I shake his hand. He has bright red hair that's shaved on the sides, ginger beard that's a little over being stubble, dark blue eyes under black thin glasses, and he has very pale skin. He's wearing black skinny jeans, dark gray T-shirt, and converses. He has tattoos crawling up and down his arms, and I can see them peaking up around his neck.
