I've been back in school for at least a week, and I've been okay. I've continued to draw with Mr. Jackson everyday after school, and I've had to be picked up by Danny every day." What is it this time? Puking up chocolate?" I asked one time, and Danny just smiled at me. This morning, I wake at the usual time I crawl out of bed, and go into the bathroom. Mark is in his bedroom, trying to find the perfect clothes for the day. I brush my hair, and I brush my teeth. I pull on black jeans, gray Nikes, blue hoodie, and a black leather belt. I walk out of my bedroom with my bag over my shoulder, and I yawn loudly. Mark comes out of his bedroom, and he smiles at me." Tired?" He asks, and I nod." Well, I have a bit of a surprise for you." He says, and I look up at him." What?" I ask, and he smiles even more brightly.

"I'm going to pick you up after school." He says, and my jaw drops." Really? You mean it?" I ask, and he nods." Yep, I'm going to be there at four sharp." He says, and I start jumping up and down." That's awesome!" I say, and he starts laughing." I thought you would like it." He says, and I smile." Okay, ready to go?" He asks, and I nod." Yeah, let's go. So then we can get home to watch movies." I say, and walk down the steps.

"Ms. Lyca, please pay attention while we're going over the homework." My teacher says, and I sit up a little bit more." Oh, sorry." I say, and look down at my homework. I finished it before he started going over it, so I'm bored. After he's finally done explaining, I turn around to talk to Robbie. He's already done with it as well." So, what are you doing after school?" I ask him as he puts his things into his binder." I have baseball practice." He says, and I nod." Sounds fun."

"It's really not, we only do some running and throwing practice. Not much of anything we really need training on." I smile at him, and he smiles back. The bell rings, meaning school is over." I'm going to Mr. Jackson's and you're going to practice." I repeat, and he nods." I'll see you tomorrow." He says, and we go our separate ways. I walk into Mr. Jackson's class, and start working. I'm there for an hour, when Mr. Jackson asks me if I could pack up." Yeah, why?" I ask as I put my things away." I'm just in a hurry to get home, and I think I can push your due date back a few days." He says, and I pull my books into my hands." That's totally fine, I can understand that. I'm really eager to get out of here as well." I say, and he nods." Thanks Lyca, you have a goodnight." He says, and I walk to my locker.

The walk to my locker is quiet, and I smile. It's usually never quiet. I get to my locker, and unlock it. I put my books in there, and reach for my bag. My locker is slammed shut, and I jump back. Leah is standing there, and she has four or five girls with her." Well well well, the little shrimp is all by herself." She says, and I remain quiet." Aren't you going to say something clever?" Leah asks, and I shake my head." Just get it over with." I say, and she smiles." Gladly." She says, and her fists connects with my nose. I hit the floor hard, and feel blood drip from my face. Memories start to flash through my head, and I shake violently." Oh, poor flea bag is down with one punch. How does this feel?" Her foot connects with the side of my head, and I lay on the ground. I don't see Leah anymore, I see Todd." Get yourself up Whore! We aren't finished yet! I'm not done!" I feel her and her friends kicking me, and I cover my face to protect it." Stupid Whore. Bitch!" I hear these nicknames, and start screaming. Blood has smear over my face, and still drips from my nose. Another kick to the head, and another flow of blood starts down my face.

"What is going on here! Get into the office now!" I hear someone shout, and the kicking stops. I gasp for breathe, and lay there in a curled up ball. Pain rips through my body, and blood continues to drip my head. There's a cut just above my eyebrow, my nose is bleeding, and my left eye is bruising up. I feel hands on me, and I whimper." It's okay Lyca, it's okay." It's the principle, and I look up at her. She gives me a warm smile, and helps me sit up." Here." She says, and hands me a tissue. I wipe the blood off my face, and slowly drag myself up so I'm standing. I'm leaning against the lockers, clutching my stomach." Do you want me to contact Mark?" She asks, and I shake my head." No, I'll walk home. He doesn't need this right now." I turn toward my locker, and unlock it again. I take my bag, and walk away from the principle." Thank you." I say, and walk outside. It's about three o'clock, and I don't see Mark's car. Good. I start walking toward the apartment complex, and get into a sprint.
