I wake up, and my head isn't hurting. Thank God. My heart is racing, and I see tubes coming down from the ceiling. Not really, their coming from bags filled with liquids, but it looks like they're coming from the ceiling. A clear tube is going through my nose, and hurts a little. I take in a few breathes to relax myself, and look around the room. It's only me in the room, nobody else. There's just one bed, two doors, a huge row of windows, and a bunch of scary looking medical machines. I'm in a huge hospital gown that has what looks like blue birds on it, and there's a wristband on me. I can feel stickers all over my chest and stomach, watching my heart rate and breathing. I raise my hand with some difficult, my body feels really heavy, and touch the side of my head. My fingers run over a line of stitches, and it's all numb where I touch. I put my hand back down on the bed, and look over at the window.
It's really dark out, so it's probable still night time. I look around the room, and realize it's dark in here. The lights are off, except for the light on in the hallway and bathroom. I'm able to see clearly by the lights, and see the nurse call button near my hand. I grab it, and press the big red button on the remote. There's a commotion outside my room, and I hear running footsteps. A Nurse appears in my doorway, and she turns on the light in my room. I cover my eyes, and look over at her." Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?" She asks, and walks over to my bed. I'm really scared, and start trembling." Hey it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. Do you know where you are?" She asks, and I look down." The hospital?" I ask. My throat is really dry, but my voice comes out clear." Yes, that's right. Do you know why?"
"I was having brain problems and headaches." I say, and she nods." Yep, and the doctors were able to help you. The best part about it, the person who did this to you is going to pay for it." She says with a smile. I smile a little bit, and she notices me scrunching my nose up every few seconds." You want that out?" She asks, and I nod. She pulls the tube out of my nose, and I blow the snot out of my nose." Where's Mark?" I ask finally, and she looks at me." Your Guardian?" She asks, and I nod." Yeah, where is he? Can I see him?" I ask, sitting up a little bit more. She hushes me, and tells me to lay back down. I do as she says, and lay back down on the bed. It's allows me to be in the sitting position, so I'm sort of in the same position." I'm not suppose to let anyone in to see you, because they believed you were in a coma." She says, and I start shivering again.
"Please, I feel terrified without him. Just him, nobody else has to come back with him." I say, and she looks stunned." How did you know there were more people?" She asks." Because they're my family, I know them well. I know that if I was ever injured, they would come see me every day in the hospital." I say, and she smiles." I'll be right back." She says, and leaves my room after turning off the lights. I keep them off, and I hear her run off. I'm confused for a moment, then realize what going to happen.
I hear two sets of footsteps walking toward my door now, and see two shadows in my doorway." Now you need to be quiet, because you shouldn't be back here. But she keeps saying your name in her sleep. I don't usually do this, but you look like you care for her a lot. So be quiet, and keep the lights off." The Nurse whispers, and Mark nods. He walks in the room, and around my bed. I'm laying down, and my eyes are barely open now. I can his body's trembling, and he's struggling to keep himself together. He sits on the edge of the bed, and I can see him start trembling even more." Oh Lyca." He whispers, his voice cracking just barely. He moves his hand across my face, and I act like I'm moving in my sleep. My hand brushes against his, and takes a hold of it. He's stunned, and he looks closer. He sees I'm awake, and starts crying." I don't like seeing you sad." I say, remember what he told me the day Todd died. He starts smiling, and presses his forehead against mine. He kisses my cheek, and holds my face in his hands." Sometimes I can't help it." He says, and I pull the blankets back. He slips his shoes off, and crawls into bed with me.
