I wake up to a knock on my door, and I slowly open my eyes." Sweetie....it's time to get up." I hear Mark say in a jolly tone. He walks up right next to my bed, and rubs my shoulder. I groan, and he sighs." I know you don't want to get out of bed, but we have to. Our plane leaves in about three hours." He says, and He makes me sit up. I wipe my hair from my eyes, and yawn loudly." Now, get dressed and then we'll have breakfast." He says, and pats my leg. He leaves the bedroom, and I get up to dress. I pull on tight sweats, black long sleeve, and a pair on Nike's. I yank my hair down from the pony tail, then pull it back up into a messy bun. I go into the bathroom, and stand there in front of the mirror for a moment. I wash my face, then brush my teeth. After that, I go into the kitchen. Mark is stirring a pan of eggs while watching the pot of coffee brew. I stand behind him in front of the stove, and just stand there holding him around the leg. He pats my head as he continues to stir, and stares down at me.
"You want some toast with your eggs?" He asks, and I nod." You have to have milk with your food though, need to strengthen those bones alright?" He says, and I nod. I rub the fabric of his jeans between my fingers, and he turns the eat off on the stove." What's wrong?" He asks. I look at him, and he's looking down at me." I don't know, just having to go back to L.A., to school. Leaving Bob, Wade, and Mandy. They're family, and we have to go back almost half across the country again." I say, and Mark crouches beside me. He rubs my arms, and pulls em close to him." Now listen, you shouldn't have to worry about that. We'll see them soon enough, when they come down for vacation. Plus for school, you have an advantage with that....thing of yours." He says, and I smile. He smiles back, and kisses my cheek." Now go sit down, I'll bring your plate over." He says. I sit down at the table, and he sets a plate of food in front of me with a glass of milk." Thank you." I say.
I eat while Mark types something on his laptop, and then I gulp down my milk. I bring my plate and glass over to the kitchen sink, then I go sit back down beside Mark." What are you working on?" I ask. He's been working on whatever he is working on for about an hour now, and hasn't spoken a word to me." I'm just finishing up editing." He says, and continues to type in silence. I watch him type, then go to grab my drawing book. I sit down again next to Mark, and draw a sketch of us sitting at the table. The shading is a little bit difficult, but I get it done. I sit there admiring it, and smile at it with the pencil between my teeth." There, all done." Mark finally says, and shuts his laptop. The others come into the kitchen, and smile at us." You guys ready to get going to the Airport?" Wade asks, and Mark sighs." Yeah, we're ready. When you guys going to be able to come over to L.A. again?" He asks, and Wade shrugs." I have no clue, maybe in two months." Bob says, and I smile at him.
Mark has already packed our bags, and has put them in the car. Wade says he'll drive us because Bob and Mandy need to head out for some errands. We walk out to our cars, I hug Bob and Mandy, then we leave. I sit down in the back seat, and buckle my seat belt. Mark sits in the front next to Wade, and they start talking about random shit. I hear somethings they're talking about, then I put in ear buds. I pull out my chapter book, then start reading it as we drive toward the airport. I hear mumbles of what the boys are saying through my music, but don't really pay attention.
The ride consists of me reading, and Mark interrupting my reading." What?" I say the third time, and pull my earbuds out." You go back to school when? The third of April?" He asks, and I roll my eyes." Yes." I say, and start reading again. I don't how long it is before we're sitting in the parking lot of the Airport, but we're here. I put my book back in my bag with my phone, then get out of the car. Wade rolls down the window, and kisses my cheek." Watch after this nut for me alright?" He asks, and I nod. Mark takes my hand as we walk through the airport, and we go to our gate. Some people look at us weird, and Mark just ignores them. I yawn loudly, and look at him." You want anything to drink?" He asks, and I shake my head." No, I'm good." I tell him, and follow him as he gets himself a bottle of water.
I sit down in one of the seats near the gate, and pull out my chapter book. Mark wraps one of his arms around me. He kisses my forehead, and strokes my hair." It's going to be okay." He says, and I lean into his chest." I don't want to go back to school. I don't want to go back to being the youngest person in my grade." I say, and he rubs my arm. He's silent, and just holds onto me as we wait for our plane. I sit down in my seat, and Mark puts my seat belt on me. He wraps a blanket around us both, and hugs me tightly. I smile as he scrolls through his twitter, and I look at the pictures while he scrolls. I feel the plane lift off the air, then see the stuartress walk past us." Would you two like a drink?" She asks, and I look up at Mark." Two bottles of water please." He says, and she smiles. She hands us both small bottles of water, and I thank her." How old are you sweetie?" She asks, and I raise ten fingers." Wow! You're growing so much!" She says, and I smile." Gosh I hope so, I hate being short." I say, and she smiles." Trust me, I hate it too." She says, and walks away.
Mark smiles over at me, and I snuggle in closer to his side. I then fall asleep, with my arms around my Lion toy.
I wake up to a murmur, a very soft murmur. I can barely hear it, but it's there. I open my eyes, and find myself in my own bed. We're already in L.A., back in the house. I take in a deep breathe, and mess with my hair as I wake up a bit more. I stretch my arms above me, and yawn loudly. I sit up slowly with my blanket wrapped around my arms. I grab my phone, and see it's almost noon. I wrap my blanket tighter around me, and hear the murmur again. It's coming from downstairs, and I open my door." Yeah, we'll be there at around two. She's sleeping right now, and I don't want to wake her." I hear Mark talking to someone, but I don't know who he's talking to. I walk over to the wall near the stairs, and look down. He's on the phone, in his pajamas. His hair is all crazy, and he looks like he just woke up.
I smile at him, and walk down the stairs." I'll talk to you when I see you." He says, and hangs up on the person. I sit down on the couch, and brush my hair from my face." Hey sweetheart, you sleep okay?" He asks, sitting down next to me. I don't speak to him, I just stare at him. He kisses my forehead, and pulls me into his lap." Who...was that on the phone?" I ask, and he looks down at me." That was Andy, she wants to check up on your mental state." He says, and strokes my head." No questions on my past?" I ask, and he shakes his head." Not to my knowledge, and I have to know everything they do to you." He says,
I couch into my elbow, then rub my nose." You getting sick?" He asks, touching my forehead." No, allergy season." I say. He nods, and says he can relate." I get all stuffy as well." He says, and leans against the back of the couch." You okay to go see Andy?" He asks, and I stand up. I stretch out my back, and look over at him." Yeah, let me just get dressed okay?" I walk up the stairs, and go into my room. I strip down, and put on new clothes. Gray long sleeved shirt, black jeans, and a red jacket.
Mark keeps his pajamas on, and says he's too tired to care right now." You ready to go?" He asks, and I nod. He puts his shoes on, then we leave the house.
