My morning is very different after all that has happened in the past month.  When I get up, I have to take two medications, a shot into my blood stream to keep my attacks at ease, a bowl of healthy grain cereal, then a glass of vegetable juice.  Greatest of mornings right?  Well this morning we were off.  One reason was because I had to wake Mark up, and he was really confused when he woke up.  He forgot he fell asleep in my room, and he looks a little bit pale.  I think he might be getting sick, but I'm not sure.  We get out of bed, I take my pills, and Mark gives me my injection.  He goes in his room while I make my breakfast, and I hear him walking around in his room.  I sit at the counter with my juice after finishing my cereal, and hear Mark run downstairs.  I turn around to see him pulling on one of his T-shirts."  Okay, we have to get you to school before...."  He stops, and looks at me.

"It's six thirty."  I say, and he looks at me."  Oh, right."  He says, and he sniffs a bit.  I turn back again, and drink the rest of my juice."  So, you going to be okay without me being there?"  He asks, sitting down next to me.  He looks even more pale then when I first saw him this morning, and his nose is running a little bit."  Yeah, but can you do me a favor?"  I ask him, and he looks at me."  Sure, what is it?"

"Stay home today, and take some medicine for that cold.  I don't want you to be stuck in bed for a week because you didn't keep care of yourself."  I say, and he's stunned at my words."  Lyca, it's just a small cold, I'll be..."  Before he can finish, I grab his arm."  I want you to stay in bed, and get better.  Not an option."  I say, and lift up his keys in my hand.  He stares at him, and tries to take them from me.  I clench them in my fist, and shove them into my pocket."  You'll get these when I get home from school."  I say.  He wipes his nose, and sighs."  Okay, I'll stay in bed when I get home.  I promise I will."  He says, and I give him back his keys.  He pulls his jacket onto him, and zips it up.  I pull my bag onto my shoulders and we go to the car."  Okay, Danny will pick you up today."  He says, and I nod.  He stops in front of the school, and smiles at me."  You be good okay?"  He says, and hugs my around the shoulders."  Bye."  I say, and get out of the car.

I walk through the door, and see Robbie there."  Hey beautiful.  Mark not joining you today?"  He asks, and I shake my head."  Nope, he's not feeling well today.  So I told him to stay home, and get better."  I say, and we walk to my locker.  I see Leah at the end of the hallway, her face bruised from yesterday.  She glares at me, and I give her a cold look."  So, you ready for the day?"  He asks, and I shake my head."  Not one bit."  I say, and he laughs."  So, you doing anything over Spring Break?"  He asks, and I shrug."  Mark and I are going to see friends in Cincinnati.  Why?"

"I was wondering....if you wanted to hang out?  Maybe grab some coffee?"  He asks, and I look up at him.  He's giving me his nervous smile, and his cheeks are bright red."  Are you...asking me out on a date?"  I ask him, and he shakes his head violently."  No, no I'm not.  I just wanted...to hang out with you.  Besides, I don't want to date you."

"Why?  Because of my scars?"  I ask, getting angry now."  No, that's not what I'm saying.  I'm saying I don't date...."  He stops and leans in close so his mouth is next to my ear."  I don't date girls."  He whispers, and I smile at him.  He brushes his fingers through his hair, and looks at me."  That's so adorable."  I say, and he blushes."  Don't tell anyone, I haven't said anything to anyone in the school.  So please don't tell anyone."

"Hey, we're friends.  I wouldn't do that to you."  I tell him as we walk to Seminar."  Thanks Lyca, you're the best."  He says, and I set my things down at my desk."  You don't need to thank me, I'm just being a friend."  I tell him, and he smiles.  We get to Art class, and I draw another one of the trees I drew last class.  This time the girl is sitting on the tree limb, reading a book.  She's a little bit older, and she has on a pale green dress now.  Her hair is longer, and she is very concentrated on her book.  The tree has brightened it's colors a bit, and has more leaves surrounding the girl."  Here you go Mr. Jackson."  I say as I hand him the drawing."  Oh, so it's continuing?"  He asks, and I nod."  I'm thinking about making it a running thing for the semester."
