Bob and Mandy run into the room with Wade, and see me trying to wake up Mark. He's sweating now, and I have his head in my hands." Mark? Mark wake up!" I say, and he groans. Mandy sits on the bed next to me, and I lay his head on my lap. His eyes slowly open, and he looks up at me. He groans again, and moves his head so it's facing my stomach. I brush his hair away from him face, and he coughs a few times." Wade take Lyca out of here, I don't want her getting sick." Bob says, and Wade slowly picks me up. Mark's hand has wrapped around my arm, and Mandy slowly takes it off." It's okay Mark, it's okay." She says, and Wade takes me in his arms carefully. I have my head on his shoulder, and I watch as Bob places a blanket around Mark.
Wade leaves the house with me, and I see it's snowing a bit." It's snowing, in February?" I ask, and Wade nods." Yeah we're suppose to get a huge blizzard tonight. Are you okay?" He asks, and I nod. He sets me down in the passenger seat, and looks at me." I've just thought of Mark as a strong individual, so I guess I never thought he could get sick." I tell him, and he smiles a bit." Mark doesn't get sick often, but when he does he gets really sick." Wade explains, and I nod." You want to go shopping to get him some medicine, then get some food?" He asks, and I smile." That would be great." I tell him, and he smiles. He gets in the driver's seat, and drives us both to Walmart.
"Okay, we'll need some flu medicine, coughing medicine, and some soup." Wade says when he parks the car. We get out of the car, and walk into the store. Wade holds me in his arms as he walks through the doors, and walks around the medicine area. People look at us, and I pull my hood up. I lean against Wade's shoulder as he looks through the medicine." That one is twenty four hour relief." I tell him, picking up a box of flu syrup. He nods, and puts it in his basket. He carries me to the coughing medicine, and gets some cough drops for him. We grab a bunch of other medicines, then go to the food." That poor man, having to deal with his daughter twenty-four seven." I hear a woman say to her friend as we look for soup. I glare over at them, and they see me.
"Why can't the mother take care of her?" I hear one of them, and get out of Wade's arms." Lyca!" Wade says, and I march over to them." Listen, my father is sick at home. His friend cared enough to come to Walmart to get him medicine. Don't you dare criticize him for bringing me here. He cares me and my dad so much. And he...and he...." I start to cry, and put my head in my hands." I want my Dad! I miss him!" I say, and feel arms around me, and feel Wade lift me up. I start crying harder, and he kisses my cheek." It's okay, you're okay." He says, and hugs me as he checks out. He hands me a tissue when we get back in the car, and I wipe my eyes." What happened back there?" He asks as he starts driving." I miss him, I don't like being away from Mark. He...makes me feel safe."
"Don't I?" Wade asks, and I look over at him." Not as much as he does." I tell him, and he nods." I can understand that. You've been with him what, almost seven months? Being with him has helped you heal a bit, so not being with him is basically destroying you again." He says. I nod, realizing how spot on he is. It's basically destroying me not being with Mark. I feel as if a piece of me is missing.
Wade parks the car outside of Bob's house, and we walk in with the bags of medicine." We're back." Wade says into the doorway of the bedroom, and I hear coughing in the room." Okay, give us the medicine." Mandy says, and Bob walks out to the living room. He smiles at me as he sits down next to me." Those pancakes were delicious by the way." He says, and I blush." Thank you." I tell him, and he smiles.
"How is he?" I ask, and he shrugs." He's sleeping, and he got sick a few times. But other than that, he's fine. Wade's giving him medicine now, and you can see him when he wakes up next time, I promise." He says, and hugs me close to him. Wade comes out, and wipes his forehead." Okay, she can go see him now. He's still tired, so be quiet." Wade says, and Bob strokes my hair." Go ahead." He says, and I get off the couch. I slowly walk down the hall, and peek into the bedroom. Mandy is helping Mark sit up by putting pillows behind him. He thanks her, and she wipes her hands off." Okay, now talk to your daughter." She says, and gets up. She pats my shoulder before walking out into the hallway.
