Bob and Mandy's house is pretty big, and is two floors above ground. Mark says that they made up the third bedroom for us, and if I wanted to sleep on my own they had an extra bed." I'm okay sleeping in the same bed as you." I tell Mark as Wade parks the car." You sure, it's fine if you aren't?" Mark says, and I shake my head." I pretty sure I'm going to end up in your bed one way or another." I tell him, and he nods." True." He says, and smiles. We get out of the car, and grab our bags. I take a part of his shirt into my hand, and stay close to him. I've never been here before, it's all new to me. My heart is beating out of my chest, and I feel sick to my stomach. Mark puts his hand on my shoulder, and gives me a kind smile." It's going to be okay Lyca." He says, and I nod. He knocks on the door, and Wade walks up behind us." Bob! Open the door, it's freezing out here!" He shouts, and I have to agree. It's way colder than I thought it would be. I feel as if my feet are going to fall off.
Bob opens the door, and smiles at us." Mark, Wade....Lyca!" He says, and I smile at him. He lets us in, and I stay close to Mark. The front goes to the living room, and then into the large kitchen. Mark makes himself comfortable on the couch, and I stand there look around. I feel really nervous here, this place isn't familiar. I still have a hand full of Mark's shirt, and he takes me by surprise. He gets me on his lap, and crosses his arms over my waist. He sets his head on top of mine, and hugs me tightly.
Mandy is wearing a dark blue blouse, black jeans, and white socks. Her hair is down, and she has a bit of makeup on." I hope you'll enjoy your stay Lyca." She says, and I nod." I know I will aunt Mandy." I say, and she smiles. It's almost nine o'clock due to how our flight was an hour late, and we had to stay on the plane until everyone else was off. Mandy has made pancakes for breakfast, and asks if we want any. I shake my head, feeling sick to my stomach." I'm starving." Mark says, and smiles at her. He picks me up, and walks me over to the table. He sets me down next to his seat, and gets in his chair. Wade sits on my other side, and I see a glass of milk in front of me." If you don't want to eat, at least drink your milk." Mandy says, and I look up at her." Strong bones." She says, and pats my head.
Mark hands me my glass, and smiles at me. I sip my milk, and listen to the others talk." So, how are you doing in school Lyca? I hear it's been a little difficult?" Bob asks, and I nod." Yeah, I get bullied a lot. But...I've been able to push through them." I tell him, and he nods." So, are you keeping up with your drawings?" Wade asks, and I pull my notebook out from my bag." Have a look." I tell him, and he takes it from my hand. He looks through the pages, and smiles." Wow, incredible." He says, and I smile at him." You really think so?" I ask, and he nods." Of course, Lyca this is like collage work." He says, and I blush. Mark smiles at me, and hugs me close to him.
I finish my milk, and sit there listening to their conversation." So, who wants to play some video games?" Bob asks, and we all nod. We all go over the couch, and I sit on the ground with my back against Mark's knees. He puts his controller on my head, and I start laughing." Stop, it's going to fall off." He says, and I lean against him again. They're playing Mario Party, and Mark is playing Yoshi." We are basically just destroying this child." Wade says, and I look at him." What do you mean?"
"I mean like...aren't smart kids suppose to read books instead of playing video games?" He asks, and I smile." Are you saying nobody who plays video games is smart?" I ask, and Mark pauses the game." Is that what you're saying?" Mark asks, and Wade smiles." Mark, you didn't finish College. So yeah." Wade says, and Mark makes a sad face." You're a douche." He says, and Wade starts laughing." Mark he's calling himself an idiot as well." I say, and Mark starts laughing." Ha!" Wade blushes, and we all start smiling. Mark hands me his controller, and explains how to play. It turns out I'm actually good at video games. I beat Wade at the first round, and I start smiling." That was actually really...fun." I say, and Mark smiles." You still not use to that word?" He asks, and I nod." Yeah, I guess I still can't get use to it." I tell him, and he rubs my shoulders." You'll get use to it soon enough." He says, and hugs me.
