Friends Forever

The next morning is hell for me. I wake up at four in the morning, and can't get back to sleep. I get up since I'm not going back to bed, and take a long shower.  I'm in there for at least an hour, then decide to get out.  I re-bandage my shoulder, and pull my clothes in slowly.  Black skinny jeans, pair of blue Nikes, dark blue hoodie, black socks, and a white T-shirt. I grab my book bag off the ground, and leave my bedroom. Mark's door is open, and I see that he's asleep. He's flat on his stomach, no shirt, and his floof is covering his eyes. I decide that he should sleep in, and I go downstairs. I sit down on the couch, and watch some cartoons.

I think it's around six when I hear his alarm clock go off, and I hear him get out of the bed. He walks into my room, then he walks into the bathroom, then I see him looking over the railing." You're up already?" He asks, and I nod." I didn't sleep that well last night." I say, and he smiles slightly softly." I'm sorry to hear that, you ready to go?" He asks, and I nod. He walks down in green pajama pants, black slippers, gray T-shirt, and a black jacket. He has his hair brushed over to the side, and his glasses are somewhat side ways.

We walk down to the car, when I hear someone calling my name." Lyca!" Someone is shouting, and I turn. Robbie is running Mark and I, and he stops right in front of us." Robbie?" I ask, not believing my eyes." Hey, you live around here?" He asks. And I feel Mark's arm around my shoulders." Lyca, who is this?" Mark asks, and I introduce them to each other." Oh, so this is your new friend you were talking about?" Mark asks, and I nod." Yep." Robbie smiles at me, and I smile back." Well, I'll see you at school, see ya!" He says, and runs back to the bus stop where the bus just arrived." He seems really nice." Mark says, and we get into the car. He drives us to the coffee shop that we went to yesterday, and we grab some drinks." Are you going to be okay if I leave you alone this afternoon? I have somethings to go over some place. It won't be for that long, probable two hours tops." He says, and I nod." I'm okay with that." I say.

I'm use to being alone, so this will be okay He drives me to school, and says that Danny will pick me up. I say bye, and walk into the school. Robbie was waiting next to my locker, and smiles at me." Mark likes you." I tell him, and he jumps in the air." I knew he would, I knew he would see me as a good person. Because that's who I am!" He says, and I smile at him." Yes, you are." I say, and I see that blonde chick from art class. She walks behind us, and I hear her snicker. I glare at her, and shut my locker." Just ignore her, she doesn't mean anything to you." Robbie says, and we walk to Art class together. Mr. Jackson asks to talk to me in the back room." I was wondering if you would join the art competition? It's basically when we go across the country, and we show off our art skills. And what you showed us on Monday was fantastic, and we want you to join us. The team is made up of Robbie, Leah, and me. So with you, there will be four of us. So....will you?" I'm so stunned at first, then agree. It would be fun to show off my art, to show myself to the world.

I return to my seat, and Robbie smiles." Did you say yes?" He asks, and I nod." Awesome! Then I'll have someone to talk to after the competitions." He says I will like it, and we smile at each other. The bell rings, and we start class.

After school, I'm stopped at my locker by Leah. Today she's wearing a bright pink dress with heels. I pull my bag over my shoulders, and I glare at her." You accepted being into the Art competition. You really think you can beat me at art?" She asks, and I just look at her." Little runt can't even speak." One of her friends says, and I roll my eyes." I know I will beat you, because I care about what I do. And you don't understand how to do that, and you'll never understand that." I say, and move my way through her little group. I walk through the entrance doors, to find Danny standing there." Hey Angel." Danny says, and I smile at him."  Look, Lika has her gay Dad picking her up."  I hear Leah say, and people start laughing. Danny looks mad, but he gets in the car after he helps me in.

"They made fun of you just because they thought you had two dads?" Danny asks as we drive toward the apartment." You'd be surprised what those girls go to just to make a girl feel horrible about herself."

"Do you feel horrible about yourself?" He asks, and I shake my head." I just think they are stupid." I say, and feel his arm around me." If you need anything, you can call me at any time. Even at midnight and I'll answer." He says, and I smile. He drops me off in front of the apartment, and he drives off. I see that the bus just came by, and I see Robbie get off. I wave at him, and he waves at me." Hey, you good at math?" He asks, and I nod. He walks over to me, and has his bag over one shoulder." You think you could help me with tonight's homework? The teacher didn't make any sense to me." I say sure, and let him into the apartment complex. We enter the apartment, and sit on the couch.

"So it's basically just an equation with graph areas. So to find the answer of X, you have to use a graph to find it." I tell him as we continue through the homework. It's not long before we finish, and Robbie's packing up to leave." Hey, if you need any more help just come on over." I say as he opens the door, and he smiles at me." Okay, I'll ask you at school if I need any help." He says, and leaves the apartment. I lay my bag against the side of the couch, and go to the kitchen to grab a glass of water.

I put some ice cubes in it, then sit back down on the couch after I put a movie in. Darkness has come, and fills the apartment. The light from the TV illuminates the apartment somewhat, and I'm able to see around the apartment fairly well. I get up about an hour later to get some pajamas on, and find a blanket in my closet. I bring it downstairs, and get comfortable on the couch with my glass of water. I feel myself get drowsy, and I fall asleep on the couch.

I'm running, and I don't know where. The wind on my face is cold, and there's snow under my feet. I'm wearing shorts and a black tank top. There's someone running after me, I can hear them laughing at me." Get back here you little runt!" I hear someone yell, and I continue to sprint away from them." I'm going to catch you, and kill you!" They say, and I jump down a huge cliff.

I wake up, and see that the house is still dark. The TV is still playing the movie, and I'm the only person in the apartment still. It's about Six-thirty now, and my stomach is growling loudly at me." Okay, let's go see if there's any food in the fridge." I tell it, and walk over to the fridge. I find some ham and cheese in the fridge, but no bread. I place them on a plate, and fill my water glass up again. I sit back down on the couch, and put a new movie on. I turn the lights on, and sit there with a blanket around me. Mark still isn't home yet, and I feel my heart start to hurt. I miss him a lot, and it's only been about three hours. I get up, and go up to his room. I take one of his pillows, and hold it against my chest. I walk downstairs, and carry the pillow to the couch.

I sit down with it, and watch the movie while waiting for Mark. It's not until eight o'clock that he arrives, and I run to him. He's shocked at first that I'm still up, but he hugs me back." I'm sorry I took so long, I didn't think it would take that long." He says patting my head, and I hug him tightly." Hey, how did my pillow get down here?" He asks, and I look up at him." I brought it down." I say, and he smiles at me. He picks me up, and brings me over to the couch." Something's wrong if you missed me that much." He says, and I shrug. He rubs my shoulder carefully, and hugs me close." What is it?" He asks, and I sigh." I got bullied today because Leah thought I had two dads, and then I was alone for at least six hours. Maybe five, since Robbie came over to help with homework."

"Wait, what was it that you said about being bullied? Leah said you had two dads? Why?"

"Because she saw you pick me up yesterday, and Danny picked me up today. So she thinks I have two dads, but I don't even have a dad. I have a Guardian." I say, and Mark smiles down at me." Well, you do have a dad. Actually, you have several dads. Danny, Arin, Ross, Barry, Kevin, Bob, Wade, Jack, and me. We're kind of all your Dads. We keep you safe, and make sure you're well taken care of. So screw her if she thinks its weird to have two dads, because it's not weird at all. It's actually kind of nice, because you have more people who love you." He says, and I hug him tightly." Thank you Mark, and he kisses the top of my head." My pleasure." He says, and lean my head against his chest.

I have the best Dad in the world.
