25: We're having a baby

Harry POV:

She stood at the foot of my bed ghost white, "what's up babe?" I asked, she physically shook, somethings happened I know it. "Harry I'm..." She said her voice quiet and forced like she couldn't breath properly, I leaned forwards trying to hear what happened, "pregnant" she whispered so quiet I barely heard it. I frowned for a second trying to process what she just said.

She didn't look at me but down at her feet, I looked down at myself, I'm a father, of Ginny's child, we're starting a family. I couldn't believe it this was the best news ever. I realised I hadn't said anything yet, I heard a quiet sniffle, I looked up quickly to see Gin's head bowed, tears rolled down her cheek. I jumped up careful of my bad leg and limped over to her. She looked up at me when I stood in front of her, her eyes filled with tears.

I reached up and wiped her tears away, "hey it's okay" I said softly, she sniffed, "it is?" She asked, I laughed, "yes! This is the best news ever!" I said, she smiled, "really? You don't hate me for what I've done?" She asked, "hey it takes two to make a kid" I reminded her, she laughed and hugged me, "what would I do without you?" She said, "well you wouldn't be pregnant for starters" I joked, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed me.

It was only for a second but it was sweet. "How and when are we going to tell our families?" I asked, "we go into Honeydukes on Saturday, we can tell them" suggested Ginny, "yeah that's good, you write letters to your parents and your brothers, I'll write letters to my parents, Sirius, Lupin and Tonks" I said, she nodded and went downstairs, I hobbled back to my bed grabbing my glasses and crutches before going downstairs also.

Ron and Hermione sat on the sofa talking and holding hands, Dean, Neville and Seamus sat by the window laughing and joking around and people either sat or talked to their friends. I limped down the stairs and towards the pile of fresh parchment and quills that always seemed to sit on the table.

I lowered myself carefully into the armchair before grabbing a piece of fresh parchment and a quill. Ron seemed to have just noticed my arrival. "Harry you're up!" He said, "yeah I decided to write a letter to my parents and Sirius" I said thinking about what to write, "huh cool, send them my love" Ron said and continued his conversation with Hermione.

The quill touched the parchment and my letter began.

Dear mum and dad,
Sorry I haven't written to you yet this week, you heard about what I did to myself teaching, so you must understand things are tough. I'm fine though, I hope you two are as well. I've got some pretty big news from me and Gin so if possible can you meet us at The Three Broomsticks, on Saturday, all of our and her family will be there so we can announce our news.

I looked at it, happy with what I said, "that'll do" I said to myself, I wrote Sirius's, Lupin's and Tonks' in a similar way and gave them to Ginny to take up to the owlery since I was still hurt. Now I wait.

Over the next few days I've been at class I've been much happier, why shouldn't I be, I'm back in lessons, I'm going to be a dad soon and I've started thinking properly about my careers as an Auror, I know for a fact I'll get the job easily enough but I wonder what Gin wanted to do, she mentioned she's considering either a job at the Ministry or wanting a job as a Quidditch player.

Saturday came around soon though, I didn't know how to make of it though, how will they all react, I know I'll probably be killed by her brothers but how will my parents react?! Will they be happy? Will they think we're too young? I pulled on a pair of jeans and a blue shirt. I put on my muggle hi-tops and brushed my hair. Ginny walked into my dorm as I looked in the mirror. "Ugh I need to shave" I said rubbing my jawline, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my torso, "it'll be fine" Ginny said kissing my neck, I turned around and hugged her, "I know, I'm just nervous" I said, "don't be, it'll be fine" Ginny said hugging me back.
