"Shhh..." The man's voice is low and quiet like he fears Malachai might hear him. Time seems to slow as Malachai turns around to face me, probably wondering if I got the sand out of my eye. His eyes widen some and he starts to reach toward his knife, but not before the man behind me pulls the sharp object away from my neck and stabs it into a place in between my ribs. A painful yet quiet gasp escapes my lips as I collapse onto my hands and knees. I look down at the protruding object and it looks like he used a sharpened piece of stone. Blood begins to drip down into the sand and the man walks around me, closer to Malachai. The pain spreads through my body and the pain is so unbearable that I collapse onto my side. I take a shaky breath, relieved when I can breathe without problem telling me his didn't stab deep enough to hit a lung. The man pulls out a makeshift knife as he approaches Malachai who's eyes flicker to me with worry every once in a while. The man lunges at Malachai, taking him by surprise slightly because he was busy looking at me, but he quickly side steps to avoid injury. I look down at the stone sticking out from in between ribs. Blood is soaking through my shirt and into the sand. My eyes begin to grow heavy and I pull down my shirt just enough to see the tip of Dominic's sigil, making sure it's still there for some reason. I hear Malachai fighting the man, but it seems far away. Both of my hands close around the stone and I try pulling it out, but it hurts way too much so in one quick jerk I take it out and let out a whimper. Malachai comes into view and rolls me onto my back and presses against the wound. He stares down at me his two different colored eyes wide. A speck of blood rests just below his blue eye.
Dominic
I step out of my passage and into an empty candle lit hall. My shoes echo loudly as I walk down the hall in a random direction. I turn a few corners then open one of two ten foot tall double doors. For a palace you would think it would be bustling with life and filled with people, but no this place is completely void of life. I walk across the room and up a small set of stairs. I look around the empty room, sitting down in the old thrown chair, and I wait.
She'll be here soon.
Trinity
My eyes are heavy as I open them. I am in such a daze that I don't notice that there is something lying over my face, a shirt or jacket. I don't move for minutes before getting my hand to move and pull the clothing off my face. I am in one of the stone structures Malachai and I passed while walking to the palace, lying on the sand floor. Malachai. He is not in here with me. I groan as I sit up and when I feel where I was stabbed, it's completely healed, but still a little sore. I use the wall to help myself to my feet and over to the door way. I look out at a dead tree ten feet from the entrance. Where's Malachai? I look out the door and still don't see him so I walk further out and look around. Still he is not anywhere. I walk around the building and stop when I see him leaning against the back. He is staring at nothing before he looks over at me quickly, reaching for his knife. He freezes when he sees it's me and his eyes widen, shock filling his eyes.
"Trinity..." He whispers and quickly faces me. I walk closer to him and he stumbles back slightly and I stop, confused.
"What's wrong?" I question. His eyes disbelievingly scan over my body before he begins to approach me slowly. His fingers brush across my cheek before hesitating and going down to my ribs where I was stabbed.
"You were dead... Pale, cold, dead..." He whispers and without asking if it was okay, he pulls my shirt up to see my ribs. "Impossible." He mumbles and looks back up at me. He stares at me, shocked, trying to figure out how I escaped death and there's only one thing that saved me. I pull down the neckline of my shirt and show him Dominic's sigil burned into my skin under my collar bone. His hand drifts up to the sigil, dropping the bottom of my shirt, and he runs his thumb across it.
