I lounge around half the day, waiting for Michael to leave and avoiding eating anything that he tries to feed me. A couple minutes before he leaves, the doorbell rings and I go to answer it. When I open the door, Etheriel and Nathan stare down at me. Etheriel's eyes scan my body then immediately go to behind me as he casually walks in with Nathan following. Nathan's eyes trail up and down my body as he passes. After I shut the door, I turn and see Michael talking to Etheriel and Nathan. I walk up to hear the last part.
"... and don't let that bastardly demon in." He says, talking about Dominic no doubt. Nathan laughs and we all look at him. Is he going to say something?
"Trust me; no one hates him as much as us." He sounds dead serious. Michael smirks, nodding and turning going up the stairs, leaving us all here. Etheriel spins on his heel to face me and he lifts my arm, scanning it, and then does the same to the other. Nathan watches closely with an emotion I believe is something close to jealously.
"Did he do anything?" Etheriel whispers and I hear footsteps above, coming toward the stairs. I shake my head and Etheriel straightens his posture, turning toward the stairs as Michael comes down, carrying a duffle bag. He pulls out a wad of cash and hands it to Etheriel.
"I trust that you will use that money only if you need to." Etheriel nods and pockets the money. "Well, I will be going then." He comes to my and leans down, kissing my forehead. He smiles down at me and I force a smile as he walks out the front door. After we hear his car back out of the driveway, we all relax.
"I haven't been here in forever." Nathan comments and he glances at me once more before going toward the living room.
"Need anything?" Etheriel asks, tilting his head as he stares down at me, caringly. I smile and shake my head, earning a smile from him. My heart suddenly speeds up and I am confused at this, looking away and pressing my hand to my chest lightly.
"I'm going to go up and sleep a little... since I don't have to worry that I'll be drugged." I laugh awkwardly at the end and start walking toward the stairs. Once I am upstairs, I don't go to my room, I walk to the end of the hall and go into Michael and Margaret's room. The room reeks of guy cologne and is messy. It's like Margaret hasn't been here in a month or so. I walk into the room, carefully so I don't make the floor creak, alerting Etheriel and Nathan down stairs. I open the drawers of the dresser and search through all of them looking of the key to his office. When I don't find it there, I go to one of the nightstands and look for a key. No luck. I go to the other nightstand. No luck. I sight then go to the walk in closet. I search the pockets of jackets and then I go to shoe boxes, looking through each and every one. After the closet, I lie on the floor and start pulling things from under the bed. After finding nothing, I sit on the bed, frustrated. Where could that damn key be? He didn't take it with him did he? I mentally hit myself. Why didn't I think of that before? Just in case, I search everywhere again and when I open the nightstand drawer, something falls from under it. I instantly smile with victory when I see the shiny key. I pick it up and see that tape is attached to it. He must have taped it there. I take the key and bring it to my room, planning to get the key at night when Etheriel and Nathan are asleep. I look around my room for a place I can hide the key. I look in my closet for anywhere to put it and decide to put it in a pair of shoes I don't wear anymore.
Night arrives fast and I slowly get out of bed and walk to my closet, opening the doors and retrieving the key. I sneak out of my room and to the office door where I put the key into the lock and turn slowly. The lock clicks unlock and I only open the door enough to slide in. I don't turn on the light and use the limited light coming from the moon to go to where the book is. I pull it from the shelf and I am about to leave when I freeze, thinking of something. What else is he hiding? I quickly skim the other books and see that they all are in different languages, Latin, German, Greek, and one other I don't distinctly recognize. Only the one in my hand is written in Enochian. I go to his desk and am not surprised when the top drawer on the right is locked. I open the other drawers and start to rummage around in them. At the bottom of the lowest drawer, under a bunch of files, I find the keys to the drawer. I fumble a little in the dark to unlock the drawer before I finally get it. I immediately recognize the brown paper bag Michael bought when he took me with him to run errands. I pull it out and open it. Inside is a couple syringes and several bottles of sedatives. I put the bag back and continue to look through the draw. Next I pull out something wrapped in off white, use to be white, cloth and I slowly unwrap the object to reveal a knife with strange etchings, possibly another language, along the blade. The blade isn't made out of what knifes are made out of now, something older, it is jagged and uneven. I'm not sure what this means so I quickly wrap it back up and return it. I lock the drawer and put the key back where I found it, standing and leaving also locking the door behind me. I go to my room and look to where I could hide such a large book. I get an idea and pull out the bottom drawer of my dresser. I slide the book into the area under where the drawer goes and then put the drawer back. I stand and the hair on the back of my neck stands on end.
