The demons make the first move, charging toward us. The angels charge right after, making sure that the demons don't get to me first. A passage opens right in front of Dominic and out steps a demon, with Malachai and Nathan. The demon walks up to Dominic and they shake hands.
"Thanks, brother..." I hear Dominic say and the demon nods before backing up and disappearing into a passage. Malachai's eyes flicker around at the chaos around us and land on Etheriel ten feet from me, fighting an angel who immediately came toward us. Dominic turns toward me.
"Stay near me, Etheriel, or... Malachai." He completely leaves out Nathan and Nathan, standing nearby, narrows his eyes at him. I am surprised that he trusted Malachai enough for me to be protected by him. "And... here." He holds up an angel blade, probably from the man who he killed up in Heaven. "Don't be looking for trouble, only as a just in case." He pats my head and turns away, revealing his golden dagger. Demons and Angels fight all around us and every once in a while there is a blinding light of an angel dying and turning to ash. Dead bodies of demons also lay about. Malachai gets attacked by a demon and he easily throws them down onto the ground and stabs them. I stay near Dominic as everyone slowly gets spread apart from each other. I keep an eye on where Etheriel is which is about thirty feet from me. Dominic stabs someone from behind with his dagger tilted up some, hitting their heart. A demon. They stare in Dominic's eyes before dropping to the ground with an audible thump. I want to help, but am unsure how I can do that since I have absolutely no fighting skills. I feel like time slows as I watch Angels and Demons die all around me.
An arrow whizzes past my head and lodges itself in the tree behind me. I spin to look at it as Dominic whips around and pulls it from the tree. Its pure silver unlike the arrow I saw at the hotel. His knife bursts into flames before the flames expand before dying away and revealing a long silver bow. Except its not pure silver, it's identical to the bow Eli was holding the night Dominic sent me to Barzakh. Etheriel stops and stares at the bow from where he stands. Dominic swiftly launches the arrow through the air and into the heart of an angel over a hundred feet away. The angel's eyes widen and his arms drop to his side, holding a bow as he explodes into a bright light. Several angels look at where the arrow came from and stare at the bow in Dominic's hand. I too, look at the bow and notice that the metal around where Dominic is holding the bow is glowing a reddish-orange, heating up in his hand. In his other hand, an arrow appears from a flame between his index finger and his middle finger. He launches the arrow over many of the angels heads and before the arrow finds its place in a female angel, the bow is gone and he has his dagger again.
Triniiityyy... A voice sings songs into my head and my whole body tenses up at the familiarity. I open my mouth to tell Dominic about Eli's voice creeping into my head, but it's like someone closes their hand around my throat, making me unable to say anything.
Did you get my little gift... the girl... He taunts and I spin around trying to spot him. He has to be here. Where? Where is he? The wind is suddenly knocked out of me as someone tackles me down. An angel pins me down with their angel blade hovering inches from my heart. They raise it some ready to bring it down in one quick motion, but before they can a demon tackles them and stabs them in the heart. I roll over onto my side, getting up and blocking the bright light that comes from the dead angel. I turn back to the demon and he smirks at me before approaching quickly. I back up rapidly.
"Dominic!" I scream and nearby Dominic spins around and suddenly appears in front of me in a wall of flames. His dagger is deep into the ribs of the demon and mixed emotions cross the demons face before settling on one emotion. Betrayal.
"Traitor!" The demon spits out before his eyes glaze over and his boy drops to the ground.
I am going to get yoouu... His voice is teasing as it echoes around in my head. Dominic turns toward me and scans my body for injuries. He turns just in time to dodge someone's attack. I look around at the battles, making sure everyone we came here with is okay. Etheriel stabs a demon and Nathan throws an angel to the ground, keeping them down by stepping on their chest. I search for Malachai and spot him, surrounded my dead bodies, his hands covered in blood. My eyes go back to Dominic in front of me and he is currently in a fight with an angel who just keeps rapidly lunging at him and with every lunge he takes a step back. As he gets closer to me, I begin to also walk backwards until I accidently bump into someone. Expecting Etheriel or Malachai, I turn and immediately stumble back a step at the pale eyes of a demon staring down at me. He reaches out fast and roughly pulls me into his chest. Flames lick up around our feet and before he can do any more, my hand moves on its own and the angel blade Dominic gave me to protect myself, is deep into the guys rips. He stares down at me as pain shows in his eyes and the corner of his lip twitches. I roughly pull the blade out of him and stumble back a few steps as I watch him raise a hand to the gushing hole, dropping to his knees in pain. I missed his heart, but he was still dying slowly.
