Sometime in the middle of the night I begin to stir, feeling like something is off. Arms are loosely wrapped around me and I freeze. How did Dominic get here? I turn and it's not Malachai in the same bed as me with his arms wrapped around me that surprises me, it's the dark figure sitting on the other bed behind Malachai. I can't make out a specific person, only that it's definitely a male. Eli? Michael? Some other person who wants me dead? Or is it someone I know who is good? Etheriel? Nathan? Dominic? Malachai doesn't stir a bit, not sensing the intruder next to him. The dark figure stands and slowly walks toward the door leaving. I slip out of Malachai's arms, replacing myself with a pillow. He immediately takes hold. I slide off the foot of the bed, carefully being quiet. I walk toward the door and open it after not seeing the figure there anymore. The lights blind me as I take a step out into the hall. No one is in the hall. I look both ways just to make sure before turning to go back inside. I jump and suck in a loud breath, placing a hand against my chest to try and calm my now speeding heart.
"What are you doing? Malachai mumbles standing a few feet from me. The sheet from the bed is wrapped around him like a cloak, hood and all. He stares down at me with sleepy eyes. "Come." He approaches slowly and wraps his arms, and the sheet, around me. We stand like this for a couple minutes before I walk out of his arms and back toward the bed. He follows me with his cloak and when he gets back in bed he pulls me back to him with his arms, wrapping the sheet around me too in the process. I pass out soon after.
When I wake up, Malachai is no longer with me and when I sit up I see him across the room, staring out the window. The sun shines on him and he just stares blankly out at nothing. The sheet he had wrapped around him last night now lays in a messy pile on the floor by the foot of the bed. I quietly slide out of the bed without alerting him, but as soon as I put a foot to the ground, he turns and looks at me.
"Good Morning." He says quietly and glances back out the window once before walking toward me some.
"Morning..." I whisper and he smiles before holding up a piece of chocolate. I laugh quietly and stand, taking the piece from him and eating it. He watches my mouth chew, making me slightly uncomfortable, before eating a piece for himself. Someone knocks on the door and we both go completely quiet.
"It's Dominic." Malachai whispers to me and I stare at him before sitting back down on the bed.
"Tell him to go away." He nods and goes to the door, opening it and saying exactly what I told him to say. I hear Dominic scoff.
"Where is she?" Dominic asks, sounding impatient.
"Sleeping, I doubt she would want to see you anyways." Malachai says calmly.
"What are you insinuating, Angel?" He spits angel out with hatred.
"The only way you could get her to have sex with you was to twist her will and break down her defenses." Malachai says fearlessly and there is a moment of silence before a loud bang of someone being slammed against the wall. I stand up immediately and go toward the door, stopping ten feet from where Dominic is holding Malachai against the wall in the hall. Malachai is remaining calm and his eyes shift from Dominic to me and Dominic lets go of him before turning and facing me. He approaches me confidently and as he is close he reaches out to mess with my hair, but before I can control myself, I slap his hand away and then slap him as hard as I can. Malachai looks amused behind him.
"Trinity, I-"
"Shut up Dominic!" I cut him off and his mouth clamps shut. "I can't believe you did that to me! Malachai was right in the beginning and I should have listened to him, demons are all the same, and you... you should have took Flora's advice and go have sex with some chick off the street." I shout in his face and he stares at me, unable to comprehend what is happening. Slowly hurt begins to show in his eyes.
