Ava woke up the next day to an empty bed and an aroma of breakfast food. She saw a note and a rose next to her, the spot where Amari had once been laying. She smiled and picked up the rose, and smelt it then read the note.
You looked too beautiful sleeping, but it also looked like you needed it so I couldn't wake you. If you're up before I get back, I went to the grocery store to get the breakfast food you been lackin on.
- Love, Amari
She giggled and climbed out of bed wrapping a sheet around her body. She went and took a quick shower. After her shower, she grabbed a Chanel robe from her closet and pulled it on. She brushed her teeth and washed her face then went to find Amari. She found him fully dressed flipping pancakes and rapping to "What you do to me?" Lil Durk ft Dej Loaf.
Take a ride with me in my car,
Don't take it wrong I'm a star
I want you baby go hard, let's take a ride off to Mars
Couple hate you baby, I made it
Everybody left you, I'll take you
You backed out of relations, and we ain't got a relation baby
He then got popped by the bacon and cussed. "Shit!" He said holding his elbow. She giggled. He look back to see her there and he smirked. "You think this shit funny," he said coming over. She shook her head no still giggling. "Yeah you do," he teased. He lift her in his arm and began tickling her neck with his mouth. She shrieked and giggled. He continued until she was snorting like a pig then he started laughing hard. He copied her and she laughed again. After while they simmered down. "You so damn beautiful ma," he said staring at her. "Thank you," she blushed. He stared some more, and she blushed some more, hiding her smile by burying her face in the cape of his neck. He chuckled. "Let me make your plate boo," he said, putting her down. "Okay," she said quietly. "I'm going to be in the living room," she warned. "Aight," he said after her as she left. She turned on her huge flat screen TV and flip through the channels. She ended up on "Basketball Wives LA". She giggled at the irony of her watching the show. Here she was pregnant by the star player, she was sure they would offered her to be apart of the show if she'd ever let him announce it. She was stunning, employed and her life was full of drama. Her boyfriend/not boyfriend at the moment was in a coma, his cousin was trying to kill her, her father and his business partner were beefing because of she and Tiffany's fight, Tiffany was still slandering her name all over the Internet. Blogs were still wondering if she and Amari was an item, it was all too much. For now she was going to focus on the drama of Jackie and Draya's life. She watched intently until she was interrupted by Amari with her plate of food. "Mm, this looks and smells delicious," she said as he sat their two glasses of orange juice on the coffee table. "Taste it," he said sitting next to her, with his own plate. She poured a little syrup he'd brought and groaned. "Oh Mari- I like butter on my pancakes," she admitted, she eyed him. "Don't worry about it, I'll get it," she said sitting up. "You good, I got it," he said getting up faster than her, taking her plate for her. "Really? I can get it," she admitted. "Girl if you don't sit down somewhere," he teased leaving the room. She smiled softly, appreciating his anxiousness to do everything for her. She knew he never even had to lift a finger since he was a NBA star, but he continued to go out of his way to make her happy. He soon came back with her plate. "Thanks," she cooed taking it from him. She poured a little syrup and began eating, she moaned. It taste like heaven in her mouth. He smiled. "Good ain't it?" He asked. She nodded, swallowing it. "Where'd you learn to cook like this?" She asked, biting a piece of bacon. "My grandmother, she's the queen of cooking," he explained with a smile. She smiled too. "I wish I had a close relationship with either one of grandmothers," she admitted. "I wish I had one with my parents," he admitted. "You haven't made amends with your mom yet?" She asked curiously before stuffing another bite in her mouth. Amari shook his head no. "I don't like to talk about it Ava," he admit it. She eyed him knowing this was serious. "No, It's my turn to be your therapist Amari," she warned. "Nah, I pass with this topic, what you watching?" He asked. "Oh no you don't, I wanted to pass with my past but you gave me that forgiveness therapy, it's my turn," she said putting her plate down and crawling closer to him. "Okay, come on. Talk to me," she said putting his plate down for him. He stared at her for a while, hesitant. She took his face in her hands. "Amari, you can tell me anything. I promise," she said staring him in his eyes. He sighed and laid back into the sofa. "I bought her a house, a car but I never talk to her. I bought it for her and never contacted her again. It felt better that way," he said. "I thought you'd forgiven her," she said gently. "I did," he sighed. "Do you want a better relationship with her?" she asked firstly, sitting crisscross facing him. "I mean...yeah, but I just don't want to regret it," he admitted. "What do you mean baby?" She asked. He was quiet for a minute thinking about it. "Do you not want to get close enough for her to hurt you all over again?" She asked him. He looked up at her and nodded quietly. "Trust I can relate," she sighed. "But...mine is different, mine are "guys" period, yours is your mother. A mother and child bond is something you usually can't break, something very special. I want you to have that. It's never too late. Did she go through rehab?" She asked. He nodded. "Is she trying on her end? Trying to build better relationship with you?" She asked. He nodded again. She could tell the whole subject was eating him up, it seemed as though it was a huge weight on his shoulders. "Then if you really forgive her, Mari, really deep down forgive her, then you have to hear her out, give her a chance," she admitted, he looked over at her. His eyes were glazing. "Baby, what's wrong?" She asked climbing in his lap and hugging him tightly. He didn't respond automatically. She rubbed his back and hugged him tightly. They stayed like that for almost five minutes, that's when he finally spoke "She almost sold my baby sister twice for dimebags. She even gave some man Khloe's body one night for a fix. She was being real nice that night to us too, she even bought us some food. After we ate two big niggas buff niggas came in and asked her about her offer. My mother grabbed Khloe and told me she was going to go take her a bath. I'm 11 at this point, I'm hip to her games now so I was still suspicious. One man went into one of the rooms and the other stayed out there with me. I guess my mother warned them of how overprotective I was with Khlo. Then out of nowhere my mother came around the corner with a naked Khloe, she pushed her into the room where the man was and made him lock the door. I ran full speed trying to knock the door down to get her when I heard her screaming to the top of her lungs- she kept..she kept screaming my name, begging me to help her and when I almost get the door down, the friend who'd been sitting out there with me came over and knocked me out, just like that. By the time I woke up, everyone was gone. I ran and opened the room door and Khlo was in the corner of the room, holding her knees, naked with blood everywhere on the floor. I'll never forget that night. I still hear her screaming my name sometimes. You, basketball and my baby are the only things that help me forget," he said tears in his eyes. He sniffled as she stared at him in awe. She couldn't imagine going through what he went through. He seemed so unlike his past, he smiled a lot, he seemed happy. Or maybe that was just because she were around, she thought. She brought him into her arms, she gave him a tight hug, and he broke. She'd never witnessed a grown man cry because everyone around her was so hardcore. Her heart broke into for him but she'd gained so much respect for him at the same time. It took a real man to show his true, true emotions. She could feel his guilt, pain and sorrow and all she wanted to do was take it all away. "I'm so sorry baby," she whimpered hugging him tightly. He continued to break down. They stayed like that for almost an hour. "Baby- listen to me," she sniffled lifting her head as he sniffled with his head still on her chest. "You have a heart of gold, I know deep down inside you want your mother, you want that mother son bond every other child had, all of your friends had. I know that you feel very abandoned by the situation. I even know that you told me you forgave her but deep down inside baby, you haven't. You haven't been able to until you can go and look her in the face and say "Ma, I forgive you. Through everything I forgive you, and I still love you despite of everything you put me and Khloe through. I forgive you." Once you're able to say that you've forgiven her, but if you can't even look at her, if you can't talk to her in any shape or form...You have to pray harder," she told him stroking his head. He nodded. "We can pray together if you want, I'll be here for you just as you've been here for me," she promised. He sniffed and then cleared his throat. "Let's pray," he finally said. They prayed together and continued to talk as he laid in her arms until he fell asleep with his head on her belly. She found herself thinking of Q again. She became overwhelmed with guilt all over again. Here Q was in a coma and she was caked up with someone else. Someone who'd infected her deeply, someone she couldn't get out of her head. She'd never been so considerate before but with Amari, she talked to him, comforted him, and through that she was falling deep for him. He was so different from every other guy. Q and Johnny were listeners but they weren't great listeners like Amari. His profession was big plus as well, besides him getting injured on the court but other than that he wasn't in harm's way at a constant like Q or Johnny, she wouldn't have to worry about him getting locked up and the Feds confiscating all his stuff. He went out of his way to spend time with her, he would still come visit her even if he had a game the next day, and he didn't care if he'd get cut for it, Johnny and Q were workaholics. She looked down at Amari, he was a great man with a broken heart. His mother had broken his heart, and his father had never been there. She just wanted to help him, like he goes out his way to help her. She rubbed his head and sighed. "You're gonna get better Amari, I know it," she murmured. He'd definitely grown a special place in her heart.
