Chapter 3

"Guys, this is Payton, my cousin," Robert introduced the girl standing next to him. "Her and her family came over tonight so I thought I'd take her bowling with us."

I looked at her. She was gorgeous. Her hair was long and dirty brown and it cascaded down her shoulders. I suddenly felt self-concious of myself. I looked away from her and at Alex who had his eyes locked on her.

"Payton, this is Alex," Robert said, motioning his hand towards Alex, "and Ali." My stomach fluttered when he said my name.

"Hi," Payton said, giving me a small wave. I smiled at her before my eyes wandered towards Robert. He looked at me and smiled. His smile made my heart melt. It was warm and comforting. I felt like I could melt in his arms and forget every aspect of my life.

"Well, let's get started," Alex said. We all nodded, agreeing. Robert and Payton started walking towards the counter to get shoes while Alex stayed next to me and we trailed behind them. "You gonna makeout with Robert tonight?" Alex teased.

Alex knows about my crush on Robert and Tucker. And of course, he teases me about it as much as he can. "Shut up! He doesn't even like me!" I yelled at him.

"I don't know, Ali," Alex smirked before jogging away quickly. I started to think: Did Alex just indirectly imply that Robert likes me? I mean, him and Robert are pretty close. I brushed it off and ran to catch up with them.

We got our bowling shoes and picked a lane. "Who wants to go first?" Robert asked, tying his shoe.

"I will!" Alex shouted, grabbing a neon bowling ball and stepping in front of the lane. He threw his arm back, and rolled the ball forward. Alex had always been good at bowling. Me, on the other hand, not so much.

The sound of clashing plastic pins caught my attention. Of course, Alex had gotten a strike on his first try.

The night rolled on, causing me too become more and more tired with each and each round of bowling. "I have to pee," I stated. Alex looked at me and crinkled his nose.

Payton laughed, "Me too!"

"Come on!" I shouted. We both laughed and pranced to the bathroom, like we'd known eachother forever. That's what's nice about being open-minded sometimes, you don't judge as easily.

The bathroom smelled like cheap soap and cleaning supplies. After we both used the bathroom, we stood in front of the mirror, washing our hands.

"So you and Alex are pretty good friends?" Payton asked, breaking the silence.

"He's my best friend and I can already tell he's taken an interest in you," I told her, smiling.

"Yeah, he's cute. So you and Robert are dating, right?" If I had water in my mouth, I'd be spitting it out right.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, chuckling.

"You're not? Oh, I just figured because when we were driving here he was telling me all this stuff about you and he's been looking at you a lot tonight," She said, drying her hands off with a paper towel.

It took a lot for me to avoid blushing and smiling. "Nah, we're not but that's nice of him," I said, trying to cover-up what I was feeling.

"I think you like him," She smirked, elbowing me in the rib as we stepped out of the bathroom. I bit my lip and let my head fall. "You do!" She shouted. I glared at her and she just giggled. "I won't tell him," She whispered as we arrived back at the lane.

"What took you guys so long? Ali, it's been your turn for like five minutes and we can't move on unless you go so get your ass up there and bowl!" Alex shouted, slouching in his chair.

I stuck my toungue out at him before grabbing a bowling ball and approaching the lane. I rolled the ball and it hit down two pins. Wow. I rolled my eyes before grabbing another ball and going again. Three more pins.

"You're so talented," Alex joked as I walked past him to sit back down in my seat between him and Robert.

"I know," I responded. Alex chuckled. Next, it was Payton's turn so she stood up and and took a shot. She knocked down eight pins.

"That's how you do it!" Alex yelled, giving her a high-five.

Robert leaned over, bringing his mouth close to my ear. His minty breath sent tingles down my spine. "I think Alex likes someone," He whispered. I looked at him and nodded fiercely. Robert chuckled, "Let's leave them alone."

While Alex and Payton were busy talking, Robert grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the lane. We jogged through the bowling alley until we reached the exit. I stepped outside and the cold air automatically made me shiver. "Did Alex say anything about Payton when we went to the bathroom?" I asked.

Robert sighed, sticking his hands in his pockets, "Just that she was really pretty."

"He so likes her," I responded, laughing. Robert nodded in agreement. We stood there in silence. I rubbed my arms, trying to warm myself up. Robert pulled his sweatshirt up, revealing his tank top. He pulled his sweatshirt off and shoved it in my direction.

"Here," He told me, smiling. I blushed before taking it and putting it on, basking in the warmth it brought me. It smelled like him. He smelled warm but sexy at the same time.

"Thanks," I smiled.

"Good one, guys!" I turned around to see Alex walking towards us with Payton by his side.

"Thanks. We thought of it ourselves," Robert responded, smirking proudly.

"Yeah, did you? Or did you just want to be alone with Ali?" Alex snapped back, mimiking his smirk. Robert face grew red as his eyes burned a hole through Alex's skull.

"Well, my aunt, Mrs. Villanueva, is here to take all of us home," Payton said, pointing to the car across the parking lot.

We made our way towards the car and Robert took a seat in the passenger seat. I climbed in the back, sitting in between Payton and Alex.

"How was bowling?" Mrs. Villanueva asked as she pulled the car out of the parking lot.

"Fun," Robert responded.

We all rode home in silence and Alex was dropped off at home first. I was next. Honestly, I was dreading going home. Time couldn't have been passing any faster. Eventually, we pulled up into my driveway.

"Thank you, Mrs. Villanueva," I said, un-buckling my seat belt.

"Bye, Ali!" Payton shouted. I waved at her and I waited for Robert to say bye. No luck. As I was about to shut the door, I heard, "Bye, Ali!" It was definitely Robert. I leaned my head in and smiled at him. A happy expression washed upon his face before I slammed the car door shut.

As I walked up to my front door, I knew my parents and Jacob would be in by now so I wouldn't have to deal with family issues. My mood enlightened until I remembered, I have school tomorrow.
