Defeated For a Friend

Sonic's Pov.

I reached Eggman's evil lair as soon as I could. I looked up to see Amy, Tails, and Knuckles in the X-Tornado. Tails distracted the outside defenses while I went to search for Y/N. Did I have any kind of plan? No, but I did have my speed, and I just hoped that it was enough. I quickly speed past the other robots, checking ever room to see if Y/N was in there. Suddenly, an alarm went off. I saw a camera in the corner of the hallway I was in and destroyed it. I, then, heard a voice coming from a speaker.
"So Sonic, I see that you've infiltrated my lair already," Eggman started, "Hope that you don't get destroyed before the main event occurs. Oh and by the way, your friend trapped inside my machine room. Good luck getting to her. Oh ho ho ho ho ho ho ho!" Eggman's voice then cut off.
"Thanks for the tip, Eggface!" I said before running off to the machine room.
"Sonic," my wrist communicator went off, with Tails on the other side, "We located Y/N. She's-"
"In the machine room. I'm on it!"
"Wait Son-" I hung up before Tails had finished, but I wasn't worried too much about that now. I just wanted to make sure that Y/N is safe. I ran quickly to the machine room, destroying any robot in my way. When I got there, I saw Y/N inside a glass cage. As soon as she noticed me, she looked both relieved and worried. Her mouth was moving, as if she was talking, but I couldn't hear anything.
"Don't worry Y/N! I'll get you out of there!" I leaped toward the cage.
"Oh, but remember faker," I was knocked back by an unseen force, which revealed itself to be Shadow, "You'll have to get through me first."
"Bring it!" I replied before Shadow and I started to fight.
It was both a battle of speed and strength, but Shadow was using the Chaos Emerald to increase his speed and strength, making him stronger and faster than me.
"Sonic!" Tails shouted as Amy, Knuckles, and he burst through the door.
"You get your hands away from my Sonic!" Amy yelled, swinging her hammer at Shadow. Shadow caught the hammer and threw it to the wall as a robot came in and grabbed Amy. After freeing Amy, Knuckles and Amy was fighting off the robots while I was handling Shadow. Tails was trying to find a way to free Y/N. I thought that with all of us together, we would be able to stop this mess and same Y/N, that is, until Eggman came in.
"Oh ho ho ho! This has been fun and all, but I'm getting behind schedule. Robots, grab them!" Several huge robots had grabbed Amy, Tails, and Knuckles, making it unable for them to escape. I tried to go and help them, but Shadow had grabbed my and wouldn't let go no matter how hard I tried.
"Well done, Shadow! Now, bring them to the chamber of DOOM!!" Eggman announced. I tried once more to break out of Shadow's grasp, but to no avail.
"I wouldn't even bother trying faker."
"Yeah," I started, "And why is that?"
"Because then your little 'friend' over there will get hurt." He better have been joking, cause if he hurt Y/N, I swear that I'll- I was cut off from my thoughts when the platform under Y/N's cage opened and showed lava beneath it. Thankfully, the cage was hung from the ceiling, and thus not falling.
"Do as I say Sonic, or your friend will taste the heat." Eggman threatened, holding the remote that released the cage into the fiery liquid.
I gasped, so did the gang. Y/N was only shaking her head as if telling us that this was a bad idea, but I... I just couldn't bear to see her hurt. My ears dropped down in defeat, my first defeat to Eggman.
"Aha! Who knew that your own friend, Sonic, would be you're demise! Oh ho ho ho ho! Take them to the chamber of DOOM!!"
With that, my friends and I were dragged over to another room. I looked towards Y/N in sadness, as she did at me.
"I'm sorry..." I mumbled, "I couldn't save you..."

*gasp* IS THIS THE END?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Of course not! But dat plot twist dou :3! Don't worry, no one gets killed, if that's what you're thinking. I'm not that cruel, but... stuffs gonna happen next chapter! I wonder if you guys already know what's gonna happen to Sonic. Maybe, maybe not. I'm gonna stop writing now cause I will start spoiling if I don't. XD lol. Next chapter tomorrow! :D
