Y/N's Pov.

It happened just like at Eggman's base. Sonic's fur turned a darker color, his gloves were torn up as his claws grew out, his teeth turned into fangs, his shoes had spikes, and his eyes became wolf-like again. I could tell from the moment his eyes opened that this wasn't Sonic that I was just with. This was the Sonic who destroyed Eggman's machine, knocked out Shadow, and nearly hurt his friends and me last night. Sonic's head turned towards me, his eyes glowing like the moon, baring his fangs and approaching me on all fours. I took several steps back, trying to keep my distance from him, until I bumped into a tree. I sunk down to my knees and closed my eyes, preparing for the worst, but nothing happened. When I opened my eyes again, Sonic's face was practically inches from mine. I blushed like a tomato, but didn't make a single sound or movement. I, then, realized that Sonic wasn't hurting me but only sniffing me, like a dog would. Does he know that it's me or is this just what his behavior is in this form? When Sonic stopped sniffing, he took a step back, which made me sigh in relief. He, then, stood up on his hind legs, picked me up with his furry hands (or paws... idk), and placed me on his back.
"Um... Sonic... what are you doing?" I asked, worried. He didn't respond to me. He only got back down on all fours and took off running. I was gripping onto his back for my life, hoping I wouldn't fall off. I didn't know where he was taking me, but it definitely wasn't back home. He ran deep into a nearby forest, which made me wonder what in the world he was thinking right now. The deep part of any forest was dangerous, even more so after dark. Sonic, finally, stopped at a clearing and looked around the area, as if looking for something.
"Sonic... can I come down now?" I questioned. Sonic didn't answer again, but he started walking again, so I took that as a "no." After another minute of walking, he stopped in front of a cave. It had a dead end on the inside and looked more like a den than an actual cave. Sonic, then, turned his head towards me, his piercing eyes still glowing. His eyes moved from me to the ground, as if telling me to get off. I carefully slid off his back and onto the ground. I stood up and looked at the cave, confused.
"Sonic, why'd you bring me here?" I asked him, still receiving no response. I figured that he couldn't understand me while in his werehog form unless he had control over it, and right now, he didn't. Sonic grunted and motioned me towards to cave. He walked inside the cave and lay down, still keeping his gaze on me. I was only confused as to why would he take me here. After noticing that I wasn't coming over, Sonic stood up on all fours and walked over to me again. This time, he tried to push me into the cave. Of course, he was stronger than me, so he managed to get me inside. I decided that there wasn't anything I could do at the moment, so I sat down in the cave. Sonic came over and curled up around me, placing his head on my lap, making me blush slightly. After some time, Sonic feel asleep, and since he was curled around me, I couldn't move. I sighed, slowly petting Sonic's head, wondering what to do. I, then, remembered that Tails gave me one of his communicators, so that we could all stay in touch. I took it out of my pocket and called Tails. A moment later, Tails picked up.
"Huh? Oh, Y/N. How are you doing? Also, do you know where Sonic is?" Tails said.
"Hush Tails," I told him to keep quiet so that Sonic wouldn't wake, "I'm with Sonic in a cave in the forest. He brought me here and I... can't exactly leave." I showed Tails how Sonic was sleeping.
"Oh. Well, that might be a problem. Do you know why he brought you there?"
"No," I shook my head in response, "I was thinking maybe you know why."
"Let me see," Tails paused while looking up something on his computer until he found something, "Oh... that would make sense."
"What would?"
"Well, you see... how can I put it?" Tails scratched the back of his head, "In this form now, Sonic is technically part wolf, right?"
"I suppose." I answered.
"And he sniffed you before deciding to bring you there?" I nodded.
"Well then maybe, just maybe, he... might think that you're his..." Tails mumbled the last word.
"Come again, Tails. I didn't hear."
"Because he's been carrying you around from place to place, you probably have some of his scent of you. When Sonic sensed it on you, he might of thought that you were his..." Tails paused before finishing, "Mate..."
