The Injured Hero

Tails's Pov. (my story, I do what I want! XD)

I piloted that X-Tornado back to the house as quickly as I could. Y/N was sitting right behind me, looking over to where Sonic was with a lot of worry in her eyes. I knew that it really wasn't the time to point this out, but since I was a fox, so I couldn't help myself.
"You care about him a lot, don't you?" I questioned.
"Of course I do!" Y/N replied, "He's one of my best friends, and he just saved my life. How can you expect me to not worry about him?"
"And it's just a friendship between you two?"
"Well- I... I honestly don't know." Y/N rubbed the back of her head, blushing.
"You don't know?" I asked, confused by her answer, "How can you not know? I mean, you like him and-" I covered my mouth from saying anything about Sonic's feelings. She had to find that out on her own.
"I guess that it can't be denied anymore, can it?"
"Nope. It was clearly obvious from the start." I pointed out.
"Does anyone else know?"
"I don't know, but Amy and Knuckles probably already figured it out by now." Y/N tensed up when I mentioned them, and I remembered about Amy.
"Uh... I'm sure that she won't smash you for it." I tried to reassure Y/N, even though I wasn't sure if it was true.
"I hope so."
"I still don't get why you're unsure about this. I mean, Sonic did save your life many times, even now in his werehog state."
"Yeah, but he probably only did it because he didn't want to lose his a friend."
"I wouldn't know," I lied, "But if your right, that would disprove my theory that I told you about earlier."
"Yeah..." Y/N sighed, "Let's just get back soon, so we can help of Sonic."
I nodded, increasing the speed of the X-Tornado. When we got back to the house, I landed the plane, and helped Y/N get Sonic off and into the house. Knuckles and Amy were already there, waiting for us.
"What happened to him?" Knuckles asked.
"Sonic got in a fight with a bear and got injured pretty badly," Y/N explained, "Can you help us bring him in?"
"Sure." Amy answered. We all helped carry Sonic inside and brought him to the treatment room next to Tails's lab. We lay him down onto the bed, while I ran over and grabbed my first aid kit. I brought it over and started cleaning out Sonic's wounds. When done, I put medicine on them and wrapped them in bandages. Y/N was watching me do it the whole time, not wanting to leave Sonic's side. Mid-way while wrapping, the sun had risen and turned Sonic back into a hedgehog, surprising everyone but Y/N. After I finished wrapping Sonic's injuries, I indicated to Amy and Knuckles to leave. They did, but were confused as to why. I followed them shortly after, leaving Y/N alone with Sonic.
"Why did you leave her with him?" Knuckles asked me.
"Yeah, I mean, we could have all stayed to make sure that he was okay." Amy added. I only shook my head.
"You guys don't know yet, do you?"
"Know what?" They said simultaneously.
"There's more to explain about what happened. Sonic didn't pick a fight with the bear for nothing. It's because that bear was attacking Y/N." I explained, "After turning into a werehog, Sonic took Y/N to a cave where he tried to keep her safe. I have a theory that he did it because he thought Y/N was his mate."
"His what?!" Amy and Knuckles both exclaimed.
"What- how- why- huh?" Knuckles repeated.
"Why did he think that?" Amy wondered.
"Sonic's hedgehog and werehog appearances both use practically the same mind to work, only his werehog side is more wild. He thought that because he likes her, as more than a friend." When I finished, I covered my head to prevent Amy from annihilating me with her hammer, but nothing happened. Knuckles seemed perplexed by this too.
"Amy, why aren't you fuming?" Knuckles asked.
"What do you mean? I already knew all along. It took you forever to figure this out, Knuckles." Amy answered.
"And... you're not mad about it?" I questioned.
"Well, I still think that Sonic and I should've ended up together, but because he's my friend, I'm okay with whoever he chooses." Amy stated, leaving Knuckles and I shocked. Who knew that Amy would be okay with this?
"Plus, I'm sure that they'll make a romantic couple." Amy added.
"Well, then, I'm glad that you understand." I said, "Come on, let's have some breakfast."
I'm very happy that everything worked out okay. I just wonder when they'll admit their feelings to each other. Who knows, maybe when Sonic wakes up, sparks will fly.
