Mitch's pov

Scott turned down the music after the streak of Beyoncé songs finished and we had stopped screaming lyrics, not caring about staying in tune for once. I looked over at the boy and couldn't help but smile. He was checking his phone, replying to tweets. I brought my gaze back up to the road and admired the view, the mountains lined the horizon which meant we were getting close.

"Miiiiiitch how long until we get there!" Scott whined from the seat beside mine. His child- like behaviour was cute.

"Soon Scott, soon."

"Ugh. You keep saying 'soon' but it doesn't seem like anything is coming very soon!"

"This time, I swear."

We took the longer route, but it was only because this way was more scenic and was great for snapchat pictures. We drove through the mountains, windows rolled down, music blasting from the radio, until we reached the cabin. It was a log cabin, away from town, in front of a lake, in the middle of the mountains. It was beautiful. We got out of the car and I watched as Scott's jaw dropped when he really looked at the view.

"Woah." Scott muttered.

"I know."

"Let's explore before we start unpacking."

We started towards the front door and let ourselves in. The house wasn't all that big and fancy, but it was cozy, and I liked it. There was a fireplace in the living room. There were two bedrooms, although we only needed one. The cabin was great but I really wanted to go check out the back view from the porch. We went outside and looked around. It was stunning. We backed right onto a small lake and behind the lake was a long row of mountains. The porch was big and had a fire pit in the middle of it. This place was amazing.

Scott's pov

Mitch and I were sitting outside, on the porch with a fire blazing in front of us. We were cuddling under a blanket together, sipping our champagne and making s'mores. This was really nice, just sitting here with my amazing boyfriend and chilling. We had already unpacked and settled in, so we decided to do this and watch the sun set. I can't believe he did this all for me.

"Shit! Scott help!" Mitch's panicked voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked over to see what the issue was and laughed when I realized that he just caught a marshmallow on fire. I took the stick from his hand and scraped the marshmallow off of it and told him to start over.

We spent hours just talking, and enjoying each other's company, something we didn't do often enough.

It was roughly 11pm when Mitch's phone started ringing. He grabbed his phone off the table and as soon as he looked at the screen, his expression dropped.

"Who is it?" I asked him. He turned to phone so the screen was facing me. The contact name read 'Travis' which made me scoff. He looked up at me and quietly spoke.

"Can you?"

I knew what he meant and nodded my head. I took the phone from him and answered it for him, finally my chance to get rid of Mitch's annoying ex.

"Need something?" I spoke into the phone.

"Yeah, I need Mitch."

"Too bad."

"C'mon Scott, we're friends right? Just let me talk to him!"

"He doesn't want to talk to you."

"I need to talk to him Scott! Things between us can't just end."

"They already have, accept it." I was trying to keep my sentences short so I sounded quite annoyed.

"Scott, please."

"Why should I? He doesn't want you Travis, leave him alone."

"I can't just leave him alone! He's the only person I've ever truly loved!"

"Then you shouldn't have been a dick to him."

"Scott-"

"No Travis! Listen to me. He doesn't need you and he doesn't want you. Mitch is happy and if you truly love him, you'll leave him alone and stop ruining things for him!" By now, my voice was slowly becoming louder.

"Scott. Please. I want to apologize."

"Doubtful."

"I swear."

"Just like you swore you'd never leave Mitch or do anything to hurt him? Last time you 'swore' you broke that promise real quick. We are done with your bullshit Trav."

"Scott, hear me out!"

"No! Leave us alone. Mitch is happy, he has been for months now. He has a boyfriend and has wiped you from his memory, you should do the same."

"I-"

"Bye Travis." And with that, I hung up the phone.

I looked over to Mitch, who was obviously trying to hold back tears. I moved closer to him and wrapped my arms around his shoulders. "It's okay Mitchie, he's gone now."

"I just can't forget him Scott."

"He was toxic, babe. Just remember that. You don't need to forget him, just keep in mind that you have better people in your life now."

Mitch wrapped his arms around my torso and rested his head against my chest, then began to cry into my shirt.

"It okay baby, I got you, and I won't let you go."
