white is default

idk but sometimes i feel weirded out when i'm reading books where they describe any race/ethnicity/nationality when it's anything other than white. idk but it's like when they say: "the black girl near him smiled" or "the asian boy fell onto the floor."

but when they're describing other characters that are clearly played by white people, they don't say "the white girl near him smiled" or "the white boy fell onto the floor." idk it's just weird to me but i realize that white is default always & people always assume "she's a character in a book? she must be white."

so there's clearly a whole thing there involving either being subconsciously racist or just being so used to the "norm" that there's really nothing else.

idk what else to say & im gonna stop bc i'm not at home so have a nice new year!!
