And annoying things straight people say : a series.
So I was on Youtube watching somebody's coming out video and literally two straight people had the NERVE to ask her "why are you coming out as bi? nobody comes out as straight."
& one of the straight people legitimately said she was attention seeking you haVe NO idea how ready I was to roast but I don't roast people in Youtube comments that's just a big old L.
Anyway, let's break this down.
We live in a hetero-normative society :
Which means that being straight is considered "the norm." Unless you possess extremely feminine traits (which really doesn't automatically make yo gay), people are probably going to assume you're straight unless you are open about it from the very start. A hetero-normative society (which we live in even in 2016 lmao) is a society where it's assumed that a boy is going to grow up and marry a girl, or that a girl is going to stay a girl as she grows up or that a boy is only going to be attracted to one gender.
The assumptions that those examples will be followed are false, because not everyone is straight. And besides, if people who everyone may have assumed were straight didn't come out and make these videos, then we'd all be living in a boring, gray, heterosexual world.
As you have uh, probably guessed by now due to my multiple rants about this, I consider myself to be fluid, still learning about what my sexuality is. Like up until fifth grade I thought I was straight, but then I came out as lesbian, and then in sixth grade I was pretty much considering myself as straight, and then in seventh grade bisexual and so on and so forth. I really don't think you'd catch me marrying a girl but I wouldn't be surprised to have a girlfriend once or twice in life.
Anyway this isn't about me, I'm just gon spew the facts here.
Straight people are pretty annoying !! I even thought this when I considered myself straight.
First and foremost, if someone comes out and makes a video and tells millions of people, it shouldn't be a problem to you. You shouldn't have to write a paragraph on their Youtube channel talking about how self absorbed they are just to tell them to do what they want at the end, because they do not need your authority to do what they want. They want to make a video about how kissing boys just isn't for them, then so be it! Leave it alone & don't call them selfish for saying it.
Second off, it's called coming out of the closet for a reason. When we live in a world where LGBTQ+ is considered unusual or ungodly, some people feel like they're in a closet because people like you, straight people, will tell them they're being too self absorbed simply because they told people that they don't like girls, or they want to be considered as "them", or because they came out as transgender.
Third, not all straight people are saying that some of yall are selfish for coming out. A lot of them are just being annoying.
Exhibit A : The "EVERYONE IS NORMAL WE ARE ALL THE SAME!!!" Straight Person /
You can catch these people trying to make everyone look the same, feel the same, and act the same. They'll say "straight or gay, we're all the same! we're not different, we're still equal!" First of all, no, lmao. We are not all the same, you're gonna have to start accepting the fact that some people are LGBTQ+ and some people simply are not. Kind of like how white people are gonna have to stop saying "I don't see color!"
Exhibit B: The "STRAIGHT. GAY. LESBIAN... demiromantic?" Straight Person /
These straight people are all for love is love!
Okay um wattpad messed up and DELETED MOST OF THE RANT AND IM PRESSED BUT THIS IS WHAT I WROTE THOUGHTS
