Mitch POV

I finally awoke to the sound of my mechanical heartbeat next to me. My eyes flutter open and I look over to see Scott on the floor, his back against the wall, head in his hands. I am wondering about where Landon is and I hear Scott sniff.

He's crying?

I desperately want to comfort the blonde haired boy but I stay quiet for a moment. He pulls out something that is sitting by his feet and then pulls out a pen. He begins writing somewhere in the middle of his medium sized notebook, which I admit was pretty weird for Scott considering the last time I'd seen him write was in high school. He is scribbling rather fast, his hand rolling over the page like it was a wave. He writes for some time before he closes it and closes his eyes for a moment, sighing. I cough to let him know I'm awake and he turns his head, jumping to his feet and running to my side.

"Mitch? Are you okay?"

"I think so. Everything...feels better. Except the fact that I'm hungry. I feel like I haven't eaten in days."

"You haven't," Scott replies. "You've been out for a week and a day, as of today two hours ago." He looks to the window. "It's been forever since I've seen those eyes of yours, and I'm glad I get to." He looks back over at me, the ocean in his eyes calming into smoother tides.

"Wow," I say. We stare at each other for a while until I break the silence.

"Can...can I please have some food?"

"Oh yes, yes, I'm sorry," Scott apologizes and runs out the door once more. I'm feeling incredibly sleepy when he returns and my hunger has turned into pain. He comes in with bags of food from various places. He has some fast food and some healthy from a nearby market. He spreads it out on the bedside table and looks flustered. I attempt to grab his arm to help him calm down but I can't reach. He notices my outstretched arm and immediately becomes even more worried.

"Scott...calm down, please," I mumble and he nods. He pushes the table back around so that I can see what he's brought.

"Okay I wasn't sure if you would want fast food or something healthy and good, so I brought both. I'll eat whatever you don't want." I sit up in my bed and move over to look over my options.

"Thank you, this is wonderful," I say and decide to go for a healthy meal. I eat vegetables, a fruit salad, rice and some ham which is fantastic. Scott watches me eat carefully, him nibbling on some things I didn't touch. When I have finished, he gathers everything up and together and puts it off to the side. That's when he does something unexpected. He crawls on top of me and rolls over me, then snuggles beside me, pulling my blankets over part of him. He wraps his arms around me, cautious about not hurting my back, and lays his head on my chest. I chuckle, and he looks up to meet my eyes with his own, glistening blue ones.

"What?"

"I love that laugh. It's music to my ears," he says, leaning up to look at me. He ruffles my hair and his smile spreads to my face and his lips connect with mine. Then we return to our previous comfortable position and I shut my eyes.
