The next morning, I was woken up to the buzzing sound of talking downstairs. It sounded like a party or something. At first I thought it was just Piper and Aunt Candice or something but there were deep voices, and a lot of them.

I climbed out of bed and brushed my teeth then took a shower. After I changed I finally made my way downstairs to find four police men, a woman in a business suit with a younger guy next to her.

"This is Ashton?" The woman asked and after Piper nodded she walked up to me and stuck her hand out, "I'm Jinger Holland."

I looked down at her hand and up at Piper for help. She sighed and tapped the woman's shoulder, "He's doesn't like touching."

She put her hand down and smiled, "Of course."

"Why are y'all here?" I asked looking around the room.

"Ash..." Piper said in a warning tone.

"We've got business to discuss. What to do with the house and insurance and stuff-"

"What are we doing to the house?" I asked.

Jinger opened her mouth but quickly pressed her lips together, a tiny dimple appearing on her cheek. She glanced at Piper who just avoided eye contact and looked down at the floor.

"Selling it." Jinger said with an unsure expression.

"What?" I asked.

"Ashton they have to sell the house-"

"But we live here." I objected.

"Not anymore. You two are much to young. We have a few foster homes where they can keep you two together- although they're pretty far." Jinger said while doing something on her phone, "But we've got to get the house taken care of first. Everything that you want, pack up so you can take it with you and everything else we'll either sell or donate-"

"You can't do that!" I said feeling a lump grow in my throat.

I keep wanting to pinch myself to make sure this isn't a crazy nightmare but I know it isn't.

I watched as Jinger started pointing at things and asking Piper her opinion then the police men started taking the couches and table out of the living room.

"Why can't Piper just take care of us?" I asked walking over to Jinger.

"She has to be 21 to have legal custody. I'm sorry it has to be this way, Ashton."

I shook my head, "No you're not."

Jinger shrugged lightly and turned back to her phone. This can't be happening. It just can't.
