"Piper!" I yelled, "They'll be here soon."
She's been in her room all day. Actually, Aunt Candace is going to be here in four hours, I just wanted some company.
I walked into the living room and tried to clean up for like the millionth time.
It's clean but I have nothing else to do so I'll just dust or something. I dusted around some old picture of me and Piper and accidentally knocked one down.
"Damn..." I muttered under my breath going to pick it up.
I stared at it as tears filled my eyes. It was a picture of me, mum, and piper at mums med school graduation. I shakily put the picture down.
I think last night Piper took all our pictures with mum and put them up. I don't know why she would, you know, memories and stuff. But every time I look or think about mum I burst into tears.
"What?" Piper asked in an annoyed.
Piper stood in the hallway, her hair messily around her makeup less face. She looked tired and her nose was red as if she was crying. Which she probably was.
"I just wanted you to stay with me..." I mumbled, fiddling with my thumbs.
She rolled her eyes and sat on the couch. She looked miserable and somewhat bored. My stomach growled and I looked at the clock, 10:31.
"Do you want to make breakfast?" I asked, "You know, the way we used to when mum had to work-"
"No." She snapped.
"Oh..." I said, looking down.
My bottom lip quivered as I sat down in the love seat next to her. I bit my lip to stop it from trembling.
"Well I'm bored." She said getting up and walking back into her room.
I would be lying if I said I didn't burst into tears the second she left the room. Why was she being so mean? She's never mean. Especially to me.
I sighed and sunk further into the couch, yawning lightly. I couldn't sleep last night. One, because Piper was making loud noises hiding the picture, and two, a lot has been on my mind.
My eyelids felt heavy but my eyes still had tears escaping them. Before I knew it I fell into a pieceful sleep.
-
Pounding on the door woke me up. I didn't know how long I've been asleep but I know that I'm wide awake. I stood up and walked towarss the door, not bothering to see who it was.
"Ashton!" My Aunt said, smiling at me.
"Hey Aunt Candice." I smiled.
Her two sons, Aaron and Kyle stood behind her, giving me a small smile. I smiled back at them and let them inside.
"Oh it's good to be here, it's been forever." She said.
I frowned because I remember her saying she never wants to come back here because it's too small and crowded. But here she is, acting like nothings wrong.
"Where's Piper at? I have some gifts for y'all."
"She's in her room. I doubt she'll come out." I told her.
Aunt Candice pursed her lips snarkly and set her bags on the couch. I know these few weeks are gunna suck.
