John's POV

I went to school early to get some more studying done before my first class. I had an English quiz today, and I was planning on acing it. I studied for about 20 minutes before the bell rang ,and I went to my locker to get my supplies for the day, then headed to Science. We were starting a new unit today and I was really looking forward to it. Not to mention, in homeroom were were going to be assigned our partners for our year long project. The project could be about anything we wanted, as long as it was school appropriate, and we had to do as much research on it as possible before we put it all together and turn it in before finals at the end of the school year. This was the first year they decided to put us together with partners, and I'm not looking forward to that part of it. I don't work very well with people on projects because I, well I just end up working on it myself. They just push the whole load over to me, and take the good grade for it. Maybe I won't get paired up with a slacker. Hopefully.

I sat at my desk in science and waited for the class to begin. This was by far my favorite class. It just comes so easy to me. The lowest grade I've gotten on anything in this class was a 90. It was a hard test. The quiz from last Friday was returned to be with a nice, big 100% in red at the top, and I couldn't contain my happiness. This next unit was going to be fun, too. The teacher walked in, marked attendance, and pulled up a PowerPoint that projected on the board in the front of the class. She passed out notes and began talking about the topics on the board. Oh man, this was going to be a fun unit. I couldn't wait for the lab on Thursday.

The class was over quicker than I wanted it to be, and I packed up and headed to homeroom. Time to find out who I was going to be working with on the year long project. The teacher called out the pairs, and I was paired with... Dave Strider ? I didn't know who that kid was. I wish we had had homeroom yesterday, then I would already know who it was, but Seniors had some sort of testing and homeroom was cancelled. I need to find out who this Dave Strider guy is. And what type of guy he is. If he's some kind of slacker I'm just going to flip him right off the planet. Well, not really. Most likely, I'll just let it happen like I always do, and act like there's not a problem. It's sad, I know, but I guess I'm just not brave enough to stand up for myself. And while the project is usually just a one person thing, now that I have a partner to help me, I'm going expect help. It is a pretty big project. The ball rang again and I headed to my English class. Time to take the test. I think I'll do good enough. I read the book, so this shouldn't be too hard. The teacher likes to ask some pretty deep questions, though and, honestly, I don't pay that much attention to the book, I mean, does anyone really pay close attention to nonfiction ? It's so boring. I mean, I can deal with nonfiction like science, but the stories the teachers choose are just not interesting in the least. I can do this, though. I took my seat and prepared for any possibly impossible questions the teacher could throw at me.

It actually wasn't too terribly hard. There were only about three or four questions that I got hung up on, but other than that, it was fine. I sat until the bell rang, and then headed to lunch, searching for my friends. I eventually found them and sat down, telling them about the test. Rose and Jade both had the class fifth period, and I told them it wasn't too bad and that I only got hung up on a few questions. They talked about who they were partnered up with for the big project. It reminded me that I still didn't know who my partner was.

"Do you know who Dave Strider is ?" I asked.

"No, sorry John," Jade replied. Rose just shook her head in response. I did, however, notice the guy across the table look up. He was the guy who got in trouble in Spanish for wearing sunglasses. In fact, he has them on right now. Does he know who Dave is ? Is that Dave ?

"Do you know who Dave Strider is ?" I asked him.

"Yeah, bro. At least, I would hope I know myself." He took a sip of his apple juice and looked back at me. "Ya need something, dude ?"

"Oh um... I was told in homeroom that you were my partner for the year long project."

"Ah. So you're John Egderp."

"Egbert, and yes."

"Cool." He took another sip of his apple juice. This guy obviously thought he was cool and all that, but hopefully he'll actually help and won't be too "cool" for that.

"Can I have your phone number or something because I think we should go ahead and start. I know you're new and might not know what it is, but it takes a lot of time and effort. If we wait until the last minute, it won't be easy at all."

"Cool," was all he said, then wrote down his chumhandle on a napkin with a red marker he pulled out of the pocket of his hoodie. I gave him mine, and he went back to his music. I talked more with Rose and Jade until the bell rang. I headed off to math, which I liked well enough, but not as much as science. All we did was take notes and work problems, like usual. I really liked my teacher. He was like the male version of my science teacher, as far as personality went. He was just so happy. Jade's math teacher was never happy, according to her. It always made me wonder why he would keep his job if he hated it so much. The teacher gave us our homework so we could get most of it done in class. I got half of it done before the bell rang and I had a free period next. In that time, I finished all of the homework I had and spent the rest of the period thinking about what Dave and I could research for our project. When the period was over, I went to Spanish and smiled when I saw how Ms. Gonzalez was glaring at Dave. I wondered how much of douche he could potentially be. Someone who thinks they're so cool that they wear sunglasses to school. Then again, he did say he had an eye condition, but I kinda wonder just how truthful that was. Oh boy am I in for a ride. All we did was learn about reflexive verbs and all that stuff. Spanish just doesn't make sense to me. I'm only taking it because the college I want to go to attend requires you take a foreign language. It felt like it took longer than it should've for the bell to ring, and I went to the last class of the day: history. Yeah, I'm not very good at history. All of the names get jumbled up in my head, and I get the dates for everything confused.

When the bell rang, I packed up all of my things and headed to the bus lanes. I found my bus, boarded it, and talked to Jade until she got off. When I got home, I finished the rest of my homework and then played a few songs on my piano. Afterwards, I remembered that I had to add Dave on Perterchum. I added his username and then got a shower before going to bed. I got on Pesterchum again and saw that he was online. I sent him a message asking when and where we should meet to work on the project. We decided I would walk home with him tomorrow. I plugged my phone into the charger and fell asleep.

> Author's Note

Hello all you lovely Brotatoes. I updated again because I have no life and this was something to keep me busy. I hope y'all are liking the longer chapters because I have found that it makes it a lot more interesting than just a 400 word chapter. Anyway, thanks for reading this and I'm really sorry if you're not enjoying it. It will get more interesting, but first there has to be the slowish beginning so you know what flipping cream-filled sugar-glazed donuts is going on ^u^
