Emotional Abuse

Abuse.

When you think of that,

You imagine a husband and a wife and him, hitting her,

but don't forget, there are other kinds of abuse.

His words pierce my heart like a sword,

The way you speak is like venom in my skin,

The alcohol controls you tonight and you won't know about this tomorrow,

You won't recall what you've done.

Such a shame,

That my own father has the audacity to speak this way to his daughter,

'I'm done with you'

Are you?

Are you, dad?

Are you, really?

Your words have made a permanent mark on my skin,

You can't see it but i can, dad

Before any boy could ever hurt me,

You were the one that made me cry.

Dad, I'm trying to forgive you for all the things you've done.

I'm trying.

This is not just something you do when you're just drunk either,

You hurt mom, too.

I've seen her cry because of you, dad,

I know you mean well,

I do.

But you've done so many things.

I love you but please,

understand that it is going to take time for me to forget

the words that you spoke to me,

but,

The poison will wear off eventually,

I will stop bleeding eventually,

or i will die trying to forgive you.

I know i'm not the daughter you wanted,

I know i disappoint you,

I know i'm a mess but,

You didn't get to pick who i became,

Love me for who i am and don't treat me or mom like we're nothing but a piece of shit

We love you,

Love us too.
