School was what I dreaded most. If Thalia and Brianna started to talk about the kiss, I would be ruined. It would make Jonas breaking up with Tiffany complicated as well as making us both outcast. Well maybe, I would still be an outcast or even more so of one but Jonas won't.
I went from class to class being cautious. I was paranoid to say the least.
I was heading to my locker after the bell rang for lunch when someone's hands covered my eyes from behind. I made a quick jab with my elbow at the person's side, when I heard a faint, "Well, that's a nice way to greet your boyfriend."
I pivoted on my heel and came face to face with Jonas, who was bent over holding his side.
"I am so sorry. I thought Hunter was trying to scare me," I pleaded.
"It's okay," Jonas tried to reassure me, "At least you're not on the wrestling team because then I might have ended up in the hospital."
Jonas smiled and then kissed me on the forehead.
"Guess what?" He asked stepping closer.
"What?"
"Guess who got dumped," Jonas murmured into my ear.
"I don't know," I said, "I'm horrible at guessing."
"I did." Jonas had said it so casually that I almost didn't understand.
"What!" I stepped back to look at Jonas from arm's length. "Tiffany dumped you."
"Yep," Jonas replied.
"How come?" I persisted.
"I wasn't a good enough listener."
"Well, then...," I started but Jonas finished for me, "We are totally a thing now." Jonas smirked. "Well, only if you want to."
"Are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" I questioned.
"Is it that obvious?"
"Oh, not at all," I responded sarcastically.
"Because you can read me like a book, I better just say what I mean." Jonas then gave a mock bow while saying, "Lex, would you do me the honour of being my girlfriend?"
"I don't know. Let me think about it." I looked him in the eye and continued, "Who am I kidding. Yes."
I closed the gap between us and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I would love to be your girlfriend." I giggled then asked, "Would you be ever so kind and kiss your girlfriend?"
Jonas looked down at me, shrugged and said, "Why not."
Jonas then put his arms around me. We stood there in the middle of the hall kissing. While we kissed Jonas twirled me around a couple of times. Jonas and I didn't even care if people in the hallway were staring. When my feet hit the ground, I felt a faint tap on the shoulder. I broke away from Jonas to see who was trying to get my attention.
As I turned around, the person who tapped me spoke softly. "No public displays of affection. Do I have to draw you both up a detention slip?"
The lady was wearing mismatched earrings, a grey suit jacket, black pencil skirt, a green buttoned shirt, and a leopard print scarf. I knew exactly who it was.
"You can't give detentions. You don't work her, Miss Dolly," I reported.
Miss Dolly smiled and looked me up and down and then her gaze landed at my locket. "I knew you would wear it."
I then gave Miss Dolly a hug. "I can't believe you're here. It's been like seven years."
"I know. Let's go out for lunch and catch up," Miss Dolly responded, "And you better start with the gentleman you were just kissing."
I blushed and then turned to Jonas. I grabbed his hand and led him towards Miss Dolly, "This is Miss Dolly. She was my best friend before my parents died."
Jonas stretched out his hand to Miss Dolly. They shook hands. "I'm Jonas. Lex's boyfriend."
"Oh. How long have you been together?" Miss Dolly asked curiously.
Jonas looked down at his watch. "About ten minutes."
"Nice." Miss Dolly said. I couldn't but help think that she thought us kissing after only dating ten minutes was kind of weird, but I brushed the thought away. Miss Dolly then took my hand and said, "Are you coming?"
"Yes, I have one question though. How did you get Vice Principal Stanley to let me be excused?"
Miss Dolly blushed and smiled. "I may be dating your vice principal. So you have been excused from lunch and the rest of today's classes."
"Thanks."
Miss Dolly and I locked elbows and started to walk away. Then I said, "Give me a second."
I then ran back to Jonas, hugged him, and whispered in his ear, "I'll call you tonight, okay?"
"Okay."
We kissed and then I ran back to Miss Dolly and locked elbows. "I'm ready now."
Miss Dolly looked at me and smiled. "You sure landed a cute one."
I looked back at Jonas, who was walking away in the other direction, before replied, "I sure did."
Then Miss Dolly and I, elbows linked, walked out of the school.
