Friday night came and went in a blur of cleaning and doing homework. Saturday morning came and all I felt was nauseous. I had nothing to wear. I stared at my closet for about ten minutes before feeling like a totally loser. I had no date worthy clothes other than my beloved leather jacket.
I ended up sneaking into Thalia's room and Brianna's room. I borrowed a pair of black wedges from Thalia and a pair of fake leather leggings from Brianna. Thankfully they fit perfectly. Once I got to my room I picked out a tight white tank to wear under my jacket. Finally with my outfit ready I shoved it into my messenger bag along with a book, lipstick, my cell phone, and wallet. I was ready by three thirty. I had a bit over an hour before we had to leave, so I did some additional cleaning for forty five minutes. I quickly did my makeup and hair and headed to Hunter's room at four thirty five.
I was about to knock when the door flew open. Hunter walked out and knocked me over onto my butt.
"Sorry, didn't see you there." Hunter apologized as he helped me up. "Ready to go."
"Yep."
"Perfect," Hunter said and gestured down the hall, "After you."
We walked down stairs and were about to step out the front door when we heard, "Alex, make sure Hunter comes home alive. Hunter, don't do anything stupid."
"Okay, mom," Hunter yelled back, "We're leaving. Love you."
"Love you, too. Have fun."
We left the house and closed the door behind us. Hunter got into the driver's seat of the car while I hopped into the back.
"Why are you sitting in the back?" Hunter questioned.
"So I can change," I answered.
"Why do you need to change?" Hunter asked with concern written across his face.
"Because I couldn't leave the house looking like I was going out on a date," I reasoned, "It would have looked weird considering they think I'm doing errands and homework while you party."
"Okay. I get it."
"Well, don't look back here while I'm changing," I said while I took off my jeans.
I took me about ten minutes to change. A note to all you ladies out there: Never try to put on fake leather leggings in the back of a car.
I double checked my makeup and reapplied my lipstick. Everything was perfect from volume filled hair, neat makeup, and fashionable clothes to the locket Miss Dolly gave me right beside my heart necklace from Jonas. Nothing could be more perfect.
We rounded into Jonas's driveway at four fifty eight. Two minutes early. I opened the door and was about to close it when Hunter said, "Your looking nice, Alex. Jonas is lucky to have you. Now, please don't be too late. Text me when you need a pick up here, okay."
"Okay," I replied and the added, "Thanks so much for this. You don't understand how much this means to me."
"I think I do," Hunter shrugged, "Now go have fun."
I closed the door and watched Hunter drive off.
I skipped my way up the walkway to the house. I stopped on the front porch and rang the doorbell. Moments later I was greeted by a women smiling.
"Hello, Mrs. Harkman." I said as I reached out my hand to shake the woman's. "I don't think we've met before. I am Alexandra Riley, Jonas's girlfriend."
