It's been seven hours since I jumped out of my window. I have been lugging all my stuff for seven hours, in other words. It's kinda tiring especially when I wanted to get as far away from 'home' as possible.
Considering I had been on the run for seven hours so far, I still hadn't come up with a place I should go. I don't want to burden Miss Dolly, let alone know where she lived. Jonas was out of the picture because that's the first place they'll look for me. I was on my own.
After the eighth hour I can across an abandoned, rickety, old bungalow. On the outside it looked like no one had given it any tender, love or care in the last ten years. I decided I would go inside to see if it would work for a place to lay low for a while.
Once I got to the front door (a gaping hole off the front porch), I was greeted with the smell of rot. I quickly got used to it and walked inside. The inside of the house looked a hundred times better than the outside. The furniture may have been broken and covered in dust, but it would still work. I had found a place to stay and that's all that mattered.
I scoured the house for any signs of life before I fully 'moved in.' The only life that was found were rats, eating away at who knows what in the basement. I didn't trust to use the plumbing, so I got over that fact of going to the bathroom was out of the question.
By noon, I had made a makeshift bed on one of the couches as well has made the house feel 'homelike' in a sense. I finally decided I should buy some food and water and headed out for the nearest variety store.
