Monday was pretty boring. I went to my morning classes. During lunch, I looked for Jonas but couldn't find him. Totally bummer. I finished school with my afternoon classes and started to walk home.
After five minutes into the forty-five minute walk home, I heard honking coming from behind me. Then a car passed me and stopped about twenty feet in front of me on the side of road. I looked at the car and didn't recognize it. But before I could keep walking, a tall figure in sweats came out of the car. Jonas.
He walked toward me and said, "What's up?"
"Not much. Just walking home."
"Hey, come with me. I'll give you a ride. I was just heading home after a quick basketball meeting."
"Wow. I think you don't know where you live then. Your house is in the other direction," I pointed out.
"Okay. The driving home part was a lie. I just wanted to see you. I couldn't find you at school to say hey." Jonas blushed slightly.
"Well, I was at school. And yes," I replied.
"Yes, what?" Jonas asked with confusion laced on his face.
"Your offered me a ride home. I'd love it if you would."
"Oh, yeah." Jonas said while offering me his hand.
He led me to his car, and I got into the passenger's seat. As Jonas sat down, he passed me a bag of Skittles saying, "I hope you like candy."
I opened the bag of Skittles and ate a couple then asked, "Would you like one?"
"I would." Jonas opened his mouth.
I grabbed out three Skittles and popped them into his mouth.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
The rest of the ride was filled with talking about basketball and me feeding Jonas Skittles as he drove.
After Jonas pulled into the driveway, we got out, and he walked to my side of the car.
"Lex, I was wondering if after school on Wednesday, you wanted to play some ball at my place?" He asked while making the gap between us smaller.
"Sure. I can't wait to beat you again. It's fun," I teased.
Then out of nowhere, Jonas leaned in and gave me a soft kiss on the cheek.
"Okay. See ya tomorrow, then," Jonas said.
"Yeah. See ya," was all I managed to say in my state of shock.
Jonas hopped into his car, waved and drove off while I stood there dumbfounded.
Jonas had just kissed me.
My life was suddenly changing for the better.
I was suddenly snapped out of my trance when someone tapped my shoulder.
"Well that was cute," said an all too familiar voice.
I twirled around and saw Hunter staring at me with his usual stupid grin lace across his face.
"Can't I have some privacy?" I snapped at him.
"Yeah like that's ever going to happen. You should be happy it was me and not anyone else," Hunter muttered.
I didn't care about what Hunter had to say, so I stormed off into the house.
Afterwards, I did my chores and homework trying not to think about Hunter eavesdropping on Jonas and me. How could he? He was the only person who ever wanted to help me. Now he was invading in my new social life. What happened to him? I didn't try to dwell on these thoughts long, but I couldn't stop thinking about it.
