Jonas brought us to East Side Mario's for supper which was wonderful. We shared our meals with each other and stared into each other's eyes from across the table. It was very romantic. We only had one issue; Tiffany Silverstein was our waitress. It was very awkward at the beginning of the date because Jonas introduced us to each other. We said hello and half smiled at each other as a greeting. Jonas could have cared less that Tiffany was our waitress because that didn't stop him from kissing me from across the table as she walked by.
After we finished dinner we left for the basketball game. It was the Toronto Raptors versus the Chicago Bulls. It was an amazing game. I commented on how the players should have done something, and Jonas listened and occasional agreed with me. The game ended with a score of 93 to 78 for the Bulls. Jonas was disappointed because his team lost, so I gave him a kiss to lift his spirits. It worked.
The basketball game wasn't done until after ten o'clock, but Jonas still had plans for us. After the game Jonas and I went to the car where Jonas told me to put on a blindfold. I looked at him hesitantly but finally decided to comply.
Jonas drove while I sat blindfolded. We drive for a total of six songs. (What? If you can't see the time, you improvise.) Jonas turned off the car and unbuckled. He kissed my cheek before saying, "Stay still and keep the blindfold on. No peeking otherwise you'll wreck the surprise."
Jonas got out of the car and opened the back moments later. I stayed where I was, suspiciously. My door was opened for me. Jonas reached over me and unbuckled my seatbelt, and then he helped me out of the car. Jonas locked his elbow in mine and led me down some sort of path. We walked for what seemed like an eternity since I had a blindfold on. Jonas let go off elbow and whispered, "Stand right there. Give me a second to do something and then I'll tell you when you can take the blindfold off."
I did as I was told and stayed put. I could hear a whoosh and a thud. Minutes later Jonas was holding my hands.
"Okay, here's what I want you to do. Keep your eyes closed while you take off the blindfold. I will then tell you when you can look," Jonas said into my ear.
"Okay." I replied while taking off the blindfold with my eyes closed shut. After the blindfold was off, Jonas's hands were in front of my eyes. "What? You don't trust me?"
"Oh, I do. But this way it's more romantic," Jonas responded softly, "On three and I will move my hands and you can look. One. Two. Three."
As three was said Jonas hands moved. In front of me I saw a blanket laid on the grass. We were at the park. Jonas had placed the blanket about five feet from the edge of the pond. There was a picnic basket beside the blanket as well as two pillows and what looked like towels.
In the centre of the blanket was a bowl with three lite candles sticking out of it. It was beautiful and romantic.
I stood there. I looked from Jonas to the blanket and back. Why had Jonas gone to this measure of trouble for me? Why was he so kind, cute and romantic? Did he not understand the meaning of over doing it? Had he always been this thoughtful?
"Wow." was what I finally managed to say.
"You like it?" Jonas asked.
"How couldn't I. It's beautiful. I love it."
"Great. Come on," Jonas said while taking my hand, "Let's sit down and relax."
I allowed Jonas to take my hand and led me to the blanket. I lay on my side with the pillow under my arms. Jonas did the same. The candles flickered between us as we talked.
