"Please, please, please Chef Bonnefoy, take me as your apprentice! " she begged to the blond man sitting across from her.
"Ma chère" he said, taking her hand "I don't teach outside the bedroom" he winked.
"Chef! This is no time to joke! I came here to learn how to cook French food and I'm not leaving until you say yes" she said harshly.
"Mon Dieu..." He sighed "Fine, I will take you in as my apprentice... Only if you pass my test" he smirked.
"Oh I will" she said determined. He kept his smirk.
"Ma chère, I need to find out if you are as good as you say you are" he said leaning on the table that separated them. "I can't let just anyone inside mon restaurant"
"Let me prove to you, how good I am" she smirked "Name the challenge"
"Bien... c'est facile (well... It's easy)" he said placing his chin over intertwined fingers "You'll have to guess all the ingredients needed to prepare our signature dish" he smirked widely, like a pretentious cat.
"Do I get to taste it?"
"Yes, but just one bite... If you manage to do that, your are good enough" he said with the smirk still on.
"Bring it on" she said, mimicking his smirk.

With the smirk still on, Francis left the table and came back with the dish. It was beautiful and certainly it was going to be delicious, but that was not worried about it tasting good, but about how good could she taste it.
"Ready mon chère?" He inquired, retaking his seat across from her.
"Yes" she said before taking a big breath.
"And remember: just one bite" he said, in a cheeky tone.
She looked at her plate, ignoring him. She knew she had what it takes to become a great chef, and more importantly, she wanted it badly.
"I don't want to hurry you, honey, but the restaurant closes in 5 minutes, and after a long day of cooking, I just wanna head home"
"I know..." She said, staring at the dish "lettuce"
"Yes, easy one" he smirked, leaning on the chair rest "is that all you have?"
"Morels, milk, chives, oysters" she said softly.
"Your eyes are as sharp as they are pretty" he laughed slightly "what about your other senses?" He inquired.
She stood quiet for a moment. The experience of food, it's all about the senses! First sight, then smell, and lastly, taste.
"I can smell... Parmesan cheese, garlic, lemon" she said, looking up at him.
"Yes" he smiled "You can take a bite now".
She looked at the plate again and nodded, taking the knife and fork... Was one bite gonna be enough?
She carefully took a piece of everything she knew she needed to taste, hopping her taste buds wouldn't let her down.
"So?" He asked as soon as she swallowed.
"Delicious" she smiled "and the remaining ingredients are: veal fish, heavy cream, butter, wine and off course, salt, pepper and olive oil."
"Can you name the type of wine?" He inquired, in a low and serious tone.
"I... Can't" she whispered, disappointment leaking in his tone.
"Too bad... It could have been perfect" he said, standing up "I'm closing the restaurant now, so..."
"Please chef, give me a second chance!" She begged, standing up after him.
"Ma chère" he smiled "you passed, but I need to go home."
"Really?!" She sighed relieved, smiling brightly at him.
"How cute" he half laughed "I'm preparing some creme brûlée tonight, if you wanna a head start on your lessons" he smirked "you are welcome to come along with me to my apartment"
"Just for creme brûlée" she warned him, although the smile on her face refused to disappear.
