The rogue and I circled one another, looking for a weak spot on each other. This rogue was big. It was obvious that he had a high rank before he was banished from is old pack. Astrid took control of our movements when he snarled and leaped at us. I sat back in our mind and watched as we fought. I trusted Astrid to keep us safe. If we lost this battle and our lives, we would go together. His claws reached out in an attempt to tear into our flesh. Astrid dodged in the nick of time, rolling on our side. He crashed into the tree behind us so hard the tree trunk cracked. He simply shook it off and leaped at us again. This time Astrid rolled under him and used our claws to swipe across his soft underbelly. Blood flowed freely from his wound and he growled in rage. My turn, Astrid growled back.
She leaped at the large wolf attempting to take his neck into our powerful jaws, but he managed to dodge the attack. Astrid began to leap and swipe at him relentlessly and the rogue struggled to defend himself.
Astrid tried to pin him down as more of the dark, red blood flowed from his new wounds. He swiped at one of our legs and his claws sank in deep before ripping out our flesh. Astrid howled in pain and backed off of him.
They circled each other once more, both of them tired, wounded and limping, but neither were willing to back down. It became known to me that this was a fight to the death. The rogue tried to end the fight by leaping at Astrid and snap our neck. Astrid surprised me by jumping over him and turning back to sink our canine teeth into his neck.
I felt the warm, metallic-tasting blood gush through her sharp teeth and over her tongue. I felt no remorse when I heard his heart beat slower and felt his last attempts to get free grow weaker. Eventually Astrid let go and the rogue dropped to the earth, dead.
Astrid gave me back control over our movements. Are you alright? I know the death will be harder for you to take then me, asked Astrid worriedly. I-I don't feel any remorse at all. How is this possible? How did we even manage to beat such a powerful rogue? I asked in shock.
There is an old legend about situations like these. Thousands of years ago, the Moon Goddess bestowed a gift upon the human race. A wolf spirit. Any human that the Moon Goddess thought worthy would receive one. A wolf spirit is much wiser and holds more knowledge than a human spirit. If a human were to receive one, they would find that on the first full moon of their 13th year alive, the wolf spirit would make itself known. This is the first time that a werewolf would shift into its wolf form.
Eventually, werewolves discovered each other around the globe and packs started to form. Like humans, some are born to lead, while others are born to follow. Humans containing powerful, caring and respected wolf spirits become Alphas. Humans containing submissive and loyal wolf spirits became pack members. How pack members are ranked within a pack depends on the Alpha. Some packs don't even have omegas.
However, there were wolf spirits who are protective, strong and loyal. If a human possessed one, they are known as Pack Warriors. Born to die defending the pack. Skilled fighting is in the nature of these werewolves. They don't feel remorse during a kill, but usually after a week or two, they begin to feel the guilt. This is called an "emotional block" Pack Warriors use to prevent distractions on the battlefield.
I thought it was impossible for me to be one of these wolves, but perhaps I was wrong. On the next full moon, I will have to consult the Moon Goddess, Astrid explained. Go to bed Kate. I need time to heal our wounds. I grabbed my dress from a tree branch near the edge of the woods and limped back into the Pack House.
I found a large, abandoned hoodie and put it on to cover most of my wounds. I didn't want any werewolves to notice or ask questions. They were all probably too drunk and distracted to smell the blood anyways. I staggered up to my room and opened the door only to see what could not be unseen.
"Ah! Really Sharon? On my bed?! Were you really that drunk to notice?!" I exclaimed as I used the large hood to cover my eyes. I tossed their forgotten clothes in their general direction. From their mingled scents, I could tell they had already marked and mated! Typical of a high ranking werewolf. They had little to no self-control when it came to their mates.
"Oh my god! Kate! I-I'm so sorry! I was looking for a pajama shirt to borrow and we started to make out and then we marked each other. It was impossible to just stop there so we-"
"I think that's enough information, Sweetcheeks." Chuckled Beta Dylan as he kissed her flushed cheeks. I pulled the hood further over my face as they quickly got dressed.
"Okay! Both of you out before you get started again!" I yelled pointing at the door. I gasped, realizing that I just commanded the Beta of the Moonstone Pack to get out of his own guest room. "You have my most sincere and genuine apologies. Please don't kick me out of the pack tonight. I still have to talk to someone and-"
"I wish you could see your face! This dork could never do something like that." Sharon laughed, still slightly drunk, "Well he better not kick my best friend out or he's going to have to deal with a very pissed off mate." She gave her mate a warning glare.
"Kate, it's fine. Any friend of the love of my life is a friend of mine." Beta Dylan blurred as carried Sharon to the door bridal style. He paused and sniffed the air for a few moments, then shook his head and left with Sharon in his arms.
I let out a sigh of relief to finally be alone again. I threw the bloody hoodie and dress into the trash. I reached into my duffle bag grabbed some gauze and bandages I brought along with me. I always had gauze and Wolfsbane in case Gamma James decided to beat me.
After I took a shower and dressed my wounds, I laid down on my bed and got lost in my thoughts. I might have a Pack Warrior wolf spirit, but my mate still doesn't know I'm his mate. I don't even have his name. I need a plan to have my mate recognize me before I left in two days. I slowly drifted off to sleep, hoping to find my mate in my dreams.

Hello my loves! Sorry for the late update, exams are very coming up soon and I got a ton of final projects and tests. Hope you enjoyed this chapter! As always, I am forever grateful that you decided to read this story. I wonder what is in store for Kate now... ;) Comment, follow and vote!P.S. In the fight scene, I wrote that Astrid "took over" which means that Astrid had full control over the wolf form. This also means that Kate will watch and feel what is happening from the back of their minds.
