I joined the werewolves of the Moonstone Pack for breakfast the next morning. Beta Dylan and Sharon were sitting in their respective seats as the Beta mates. A couple of days ago, I would've been rejoicing at the fact that I was finally being treated like a pack member, even if it wasn't my own pack.

The only thing stopping me from smiling, chatting and laughing like everyone else, was the fact that they found the dead body. Every werewolf at the table was talking about this, excited to have some action. This confused me, why did they all seem to be so thirsty for blood?

"I wonder who did it. I bet it was Jack, he's always the one doing reckless things." One of the she-wolves said.

"Yea, but imagine how boring our pack would be if it weren't for him! The party last night wouldn't have been half as fun." Another she-wolf laughed.

"I wonder if this means we'll have another rogue war on our hands. The last one was epic. Funny how Tom thought banning the rogues together in a measly 'army' of 436 wolves would be enough." This caught my attention. I had heard about the famous rogue war that happened last year on Moonstone territory. It was legendary, some even say that the battle is to be written down in werewolf history.

"For the ex-beta of this pack, Tom sure was dumb."

"I still can't believe he would turn on our pack and tell the rogues about the prophecy. Rogues would do anything to gain more power." The she-wolves laughed as they continued to bash 'Tom' and revel in more victorious battles in the past. Prophecy? What was that? I thought to myself curiously.

"We're all Pack W-"

"Shh!" A she-wolf suddenly interrupted her and they all turned to look at me. I suddenly felt self-conscious as they mind-linked each other, obviously talking about me. I excused myself and left the dining room. I was making my way up the stairs until I felt someone tailing me. I picked up my pace, but was stopped by a growl.

"Stop walking." I shivered as I felt the power of the command wash over me. I turned around and saw Alpha Blake standing behind me. I immediately looked down and bowed my head, not wanting to disrespect the Alpha. I heard him sniff the air and I stood frozen, momentarily confused.

Then I realized that in the fight with the rogue, I must have left my scent all over the dead rogue and the area we fought in. Wait. My scent. The perfume! That's what my mate smelled! "Look at me." He commanded, snapping me out of my thoughts. Hesitantly I looked up and met his eyes.

Alpha Blake's eyes mesmerized me. They shifted from their natural shade of hazel to a bright gold. I was shocked when I felt Astrid being drawn to the surface. It felt as if I had no control over her and she had no control over herself. My eyes darkened to black, my claws extended and my canines came out.

Just before I completely shifted into my wolf, Alpha Blake looked away and I dropped to the stairs out of breath. "What colour were my eyes?" Alpha Blake asked with an impassive face. It was as if this was nothing new to him.

"G-gold... What is the meaning of that, Alpha?" I asked. Astrid sat quietly in the back of my mind as if she already knew what was going on.

"At 12 pm, meet myself, Christy and your Alpha mates in my office. We need to chat." Alpha Blake began to walk away, but paused. "There's a reason why you were able to kill that rogue with zero training. I suggest you ask your wolf." I climbed up the stairs to the guestroom and flopped onto the bed. My life has never felt so complicated.

Astrid, what did the Moon Goddess say to you?

She told me I was right, we are meant to be a Pack Warrior.
