Three months of tranquility have passed. Outside of the tense training we had, the world seemed to have forgotten about the prophecy. The Levagairs remained nothing more than an idle threat.

I went to the bathroom and stopped when I passed the mirror. My facial features had a happy and healthy glow thanks to Liam and my frail frame has put on more weight and muscle. I don't look like a bodybuilder by any means, but I definitely have some definition going on.

My abs, arms, legs and back are not only toned, but they are covered in scars and bruises from sparring. Blake has really made the pack work. We no longer stop when we pin the other down, it has gotten to the point where we continue to fight until the opponent can no longer physically continue. Call our pack crazy, but we loved it.

The adrenaline and thrill of an actual battle is what drove us to lunge again and again at our weakening prey. Sparring was the only time where our hunger for adventure and battle could be fed. We all have learned new moves and we have strengthened our own fighting style, but not all of us were ready.

The young ones were especially vulnerable. Mating season has recently passed and we had at least twenty pregnant females. The children, toddlers and pregnant were to be protected by the adolescents and newly shifted of our pack. They are inexperienced and we hoped to keep it that way, at least until they passed the age of sixteen.

"Kate! Liam!" I heard an urgent yell. Christy. I ran down the stairs and looked at Liam questioningly. "They're here." Christy said. I froze in shock. After all this time of impatient waiting, the war has finally begun.

"Kate, Liam. Look at me. You need to meet the Vekaldi in the center of the training field. Just as I have suspected, they only want to see you." Blake said as he pushed us out the back door.

"But wait I-" I was cut off when Blake shut the door. "How are we supposed to carry all the Vekaldi tear blocks ourselves?"

"I guess we'll see when we get there." Liam replied. He took my hand and we headed towards small patch of trees leading to the training field. There was a faint glow that shone through the trees. Nervously, I tightened my grip on Liam's hand. I knew the Vekaldi would not hurt us, but I was frightened all the same.

The closer we got to the welcoming light, the more the emotions of happiness and peace began to wash over me. I heard the faint melodic hum of a female. We cautiously peeked behind the last tree that separated us and from the Vekaldi. There were two of them, each seated on a cube of clear substance that glowed the same light as their wings. How come there were only two blocks of Vekaldi tears? Wouldn't we need more?

I could see the faint outline of bones in their wings, but it wasn't gruesome at all, in fact, they were stunning. The textbook said their wings were covered with skin, but it didn't look exactly like skin. Their wings reminded me of glass. They were slightly golden, glowed a white light and were slightly translucent.

"Come out, we can sense your souls. There's no hiding from us." The Vekaldi with auburn hair said teasingly. Liam and I hesitantly stepped out from behind the tree.

"There is no need to fear us, we are here to deliver our crystalized tears. I know it doesn't look like much, but you will never run out until the war is over." The Vekaldi with strawberry blonde hair assured us. "You'll see when you begin to forge your weapons."

I knew these two Vekaldi were gorgeous, there was no doubt about it. My heart swelled when I look at Liam. He wore a serious expression as though he didn't even notice their beauty. Liam turned when he felt my gaze on him. You are much more beautiful in my eyes, Liam said through mind-link. I was about to reply but the auburn haired Vekaldi began to speak again.

"The weapons you forge from these blocks of Vekaldi tears will cut apart your soul and kill you in this life and the next. You may only use these new weapons against the Levagairs. Understand?" The Vekaldi with strawberry blonde hair warned.

"Never abuse the power these new weapons bring. If we sense that this material is being used for purposes other than killing Levagairs, it will be taken away." When the wind blew, her auburn hair didn't move. Not even a bit. It was as if they weren't really here in front of us.

"Yes. We assure you that the material you have gifted us will not be mishandled. Thank you." Liam's voice was filled with determination and promise. The Vekaldi nodded and a bright light surrounded them. When I opened my eyes again, they were gone.

I hesitantly reached out to hold the Vekaldi tears. It felt cool like marble, but weighed close to nothing. "It's beautiful." I said quietly.

"Kate, if we got the Vekaldi tears, that means the war is approaching. Fast. We have to go." Liam said urgently. We sprinted off towards the pack house. Blake and Christy were already holding open the doors.

"Get in and follow Christy. Leo's pack has been spotted coming over here. They're armed." Blake said handing us two long blades.

"Come with me. There's a vault hidden in the house, it'll be where we keep the Vekaldi tears." Christy as she began to run. We took off after her and ran through the pack members who were scurrying to grab their weapons and put on their gear. We stopped in front of a pink door with flowers.

"The nursery?" I asked shocked.

"No one knows the vault is here and it's probably going to be the last place that will be checked." Christy pushed aside a garbage bin, lifted the rug and removed the top of the wooden floor that was covering the vault. "Fire proof, bullet proof, bomb proof and can only be opened up with a fingerprint and face scanner. Only four people can open it. You, Liam, Blake and I."

She opened the vault and we carefully placed the blocks of Vekaldi tears in. Christy placed a couple of towels on top of the blocks to conceal it's soft glow and locked the vault. Nothing looked out of the ordinary and I prayed it stayed that way.

"Hey, why don't we use guns or bombs or something?" I asked curiously.

"Guns and bombs make a lot of noise. The human population is going to be alerted. The government knows werewolves exist and are fine with it as long as we keep hidden from the public." Christy quickly explained.

Liam opened a drawer and tossed me one of the protective suits that lay inside. The material of the suit accommodates our form as we shift to and from wolf to human. Most of us try to fight as much as we can in our human form because it take s a lot of energy to shift.

"Let's go kick some ass." Liam said with an excited smile. Revenge, Astrid growled in agreement.
