Guys I just realized I have never clarified this. Married to the Dark is set AFTER The Force Awakens (hence Kylo's scar) but the Starkiller base has been rebuilt, so it's set about a year after. Thanks and I'm sorry I never said that!

After Kylo left for the second time, you found more passion in your activities. You painted a few pieces that you thought were mediocre, but you hung them up anyway. You spent most of the time in the training room, however, because you wanted to surprise Kylo when he got back.

You swung your saber around catching a dummy in the side. It fell to the ground in a burnt heap of fabric. You turned off the saber and put your hands on your hips, feeling proud.

"If you keep training with dummies you will never get any better." You whirled around to Phasma standing at the entrance. "You need an opponent who can match your skills and test you."

"Oh, uh" You looked around. "Well, Kylo only gave me the dummies, I don't know who to train against." Phasma stood up straighter and took off her helmet. She had blonde hair in a low pony tail and a stern face. She proceeded to take off her upper layers of armor, leaving her in tight black clothing.

"I have nothing to do, so I suppose I shall help you." She pulled out a saber from a nearby locker. She got into a proper stance and motioned for you to do the same. "Now come at me with all you've got. I won't attack you. I will just defend." You ran forward and your lightsaber slammed against hers. You parried left and she defended. Each move you made was easily blocked and you soon felt out of breath. She stood up and turned off her lightsaber. "You did well. I have duties on the ship, but next week I can come back and we can continue." You were surprised at her gesture and nodded to signal that you would like that. You both gathered your things and headed in opposite directions.

Phasma really isn't that bad.

You reached your quarters and immediately took a shower to get all the nastiness off you. As you exited you noticed the holo reader buzzing loudly. You jumped over it and pressed the receiver. Kylo's form appeared in front of you. He looked tired and beaten. Large bags were formed under his eyes and his stance was weak and tired. He gave a you a small smile.

"(Y/N), I'm sorry it's been a while, the resistance here is putting up a fight." You sucked in a breath as you noticed another scar at his chin. "I hope you are doing well, I've instructed Hux to let you record some messages to send back to me. I miss seeing you." He gave a pained wince. "I have to go, I love you." The message ended and you felt horrified and broken. Your husband was wounded and hurt. You just wanted to reach out and hold him. You got comfortable on the bed and tried to fall asleep. But you were plagued with nightmares.

The next few days you took a break from the training. You were working on a painting of the base and it took extra effort to mix the colors. You sat down with the paint bowl in one hand and a brush in the other. You felt calm and serene. No other messages had come from Kylo since the last but you didn't worry. Suddenly, a knock rang through the quarters. You set aside your utensils and opened the door slowly. Standing in front of you was General Hux. He looked... different. His evil gaze was replaced with that of embarrassment. His shoulders were slouched.

"Yes?" You asked nervously. Hux still gave you the creeps.

"(Y/N), I have been given the duty of informing you. Kylo did not make it back from the last battle." He shifted his weight. "I'm sorry" He said quietly.

"What?" You were confused. "I don't understand."

How could he have not made it back, what does that mean? Is he oka-

You froze. "Are you saying he's...he's..."

Hux grimaced and looked to the floor. "I'm afraid we have pronounced him dead, (Y/N). They found a body, burnt to a crisp." Your head was spinning. You couldn't breathe. Your hands moved to your sides to keep yourself upright. "I'm am sorry, I-"

"Get out." You growled. Hux looked surprised. "Leave." He backed away and you slammed the door. It all happened so quickly. You threw the paint against the wall and you cracked the canvas against your knee. Soon your lightsaber was out and you scaled the walls with its destructive blade. Tears flowed out of your eyes and screams left your mouth

Nonononono

You tore apart the quarters and eventually landed on the bed. Your heart had been destroyed and so now was your home. You cried yourself to sleep.
