Two weeks. She hasn't been able to stop thinking about him. It doesn't matter where she is, what she's doing, she can't stop. But she hasn't spoken to him. It's been two weeks and she hasn't had any means of communication with him whatsoever.
The day after their date, he had texted her and asked how her day was going. She ignored it. He texted again a few days lateran asked, again, how her day was going. She ignored it. Last week, he asked if he had done anything wrong. Again, she ignored it. Today, she got another one that said;
I really want to see you again. I haven't been able to take my mind off of you for the past two weeks. I promised I wouldn't pressure a second date, but I was thinking pizza, Coca-Cola, and your place. If not, I promise I won't bother you again. Let me know. - B
He sent that this morning when she was setting up for the day's class. It's now lunch and she's staring at it as if it were some sort of foreign language. She just couldn't get around why on earth he wanted to keep seeing her. She didn't ignore him because she didn't like him or because she didn't have a good time, but because she just simply didn't understand.
Why her?
Just as she was thinking about a way to respond, the bell rang and the kids started filing into the classroom. She tossed her phone into her desk just moments later, then stood up and asked the class how they're lunch and recess was.
For the remainder of the class, all she could think about was that text. As she taught math, english, history, and science, that's all that was in her head. She knew she wanted to say "yes", but she didn't know if he wanted her to say yes. Of course, when she expressed this to Anna after school, she got an earful.
"You don't know if he wants you to say yes?" She asked in disbelief. "He is crazy about you, Cass. If he wasn't, he wouldn't have kept asking you out, nor would he have asked you out for a second date! Give him a chance. Give yourself a chance."
Cassie groaned and threw her hands up to her face. "I really like him," she mumbled. Anna laughed, "Duh! He's been nothing but sweet to you. Has he said anything about your drinking?" Cassie shook her head. "Has he pushed you to talk about your past?" Again, she shook her head.
"Then, he's worth a second date in my book. Text him, call him, do something and tell him tonight is perfect." Cassie threw down her hands and scowled at her friend. She took a deep, deep breath, then finally said, "...Fine."
She grabbed her phone out of her desk and texted him, saying that tonight was perfect. She almost got an immediate response; Great! I'll bring everything over around seven. I really can't wait to see you again. - B
"Dammit," she grumbled because of the butterflies floating in her stomach. "Okay, so now that that's done, I have even bigger issue." Anna looked at her friend curiously and asked, "What's that?" Cassie reached over her desk and aggressively turned a picture of her mother around to Anna.

"Is he bringing alcohol over?" Cassie heard her mother shout up from downstairs. With a loud huff, she shouted back in an annoyed tone, "Jesus, no!" God, she hated that woman. As she was slipping into something more comfortable Kate shouted back, "I just don't want him influencing you!"
Cassie rolled her eyes and mumbled, "Coming from the person who influenced me in the first place." She continued to get changed and looked at the clock. It was almost seven. She never did come up with a plan of what to do with her mother, so she decided to play it by ear.
She can ask her to go away to her room or kindly ask not to disturb her date, though lord knows that's going to happen either way. She supposes once the time comes, she'll know what to do.
