"Well, no, I can make a trip there in a few months," Ben said into the phone as he paced around the bedroom. "My fiancée and I are moving to London in a couple of weeks and I need a transfer...Really? You...you would do that?...Bloody hell that's amazing! I would be honored!"

He was practically jumping up and down with joy! "Thank you! Thank you so much! See you soon!" He hung up and started laughing. "Holy...holy shit!" He wanted to call Cassie so bad, but it was near the end of the year and he knew she was stressed about getting the kids ready for their finals.

Being in the fantastic mood he was in, he decided to make them a nice dinner. He went out and got steaks, vegetables, potatoes, even picked up some dessert.

As he was flipping the steaks on the grill stove, he heard the door close. "Hey, honey!" He called. He took down a wine glass and poured some water into it. Just as Cassie walked in, he turned around and handed it to her with a smile on his face.

"You're a little late," he noted. "Lots of papers to grade?" She shook her head and told him, "No. I, uh...I went to the doctors." He gave her a worried look and asked, "Why? Are you okay?" She took a sip of her water and said, "I'm fine. Well...we are."

He looked at her oddly. "We? He asked. "I don't understand." Sighing, Cassie sat herself up on the counter and said, "I was feeling sick a few days ago, so I went in to get checked out." He didn't say anything, still confused. "So...is it the flu?" He asked.

She took a deep breath, then said, "No. It's something a little more permanent." His eyes widened in shock and she gave him a small smile. "Fuck, don't tell me it's cancer," he said, starting to freak out a bit. Cassie quickly said, "No, no, no! Jesus, Ben, I'm pregnant!"

His face went from relieved to shock again. "Oh...oh, my God." He started laughing, then went up to her and hugged her off the counter. "Oh, I thought something was wrong, but it's the complete opposite." He kissed her neck several times before kissing her lips.

"You're pregnant," he chuckled. "Holy shit, this is amazing!" He set her feet down on the ground, then put his hand on her stomach. "I'm twelve weeks," she told him. "We discussed the miscarriage and what we can do to avoid that."

He gave her an anxious look as he asked, "And? What do we have to do? Anything I can do to help?" She gave him a soft smile as she told him, "I just need lots of rest. When it gets to at least 6 weeks before the birth, then I need to be on bed rest."

"Alright, we can definitely manage that," Ben said. "In the meantime, I'm sure you need vitamins, some herbal teas maybe." Cassie wrapped her arms around his neck and said, "Most likely and...oh. Oh, what's that smell?"

She covered her nose and looked like she was about to throw up. Ben looked around the room and spotted the simmering steak. "It's the meat," he told her. "I was making us a nice dinner because...well, I have some big news myself."

He turned off the stove and tossed the steak in the trash before saying, "I told my old office I would need to transfer back. They offered me a position there that's beyond better than what I have now. They want to make me Vice President of the company."

He laughed when he saw her jaw drop. "Ben," she gasped, "that's...wow, that's amazing!" She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down for a hug. He chuckled and picked her up. "I guess we've both had a pretty good day," he told her.

"You can say that again," she giggled. "You didn't have to throw away the steak, by the way." He set her down and cupped her face. "If it's going to make you sick, we're not going to have it. I got some potatoes and vegetables, I'll make something from that."

She nodded and he kissed her forehead. "Go relax, I'll come get you when it's done." He watched as she went upstairs and sighed contently. Everything was coming together, but he knew it was only just the beginning.
