3 Months Later

"Okay, I think I have everything," Cassie mumbled to herself, as she quickly grabbed her things. She grabbed her car keys, then went out the door. It was just getting to the ass crack of dawn, but she was wide awake and ready to take on the day ahead!

The first day of school is, without a doubt, her favorite day.

After loading up her car, she drove down to her usual café where she was meeting Anna for breakfast. "Hey, babe!" Anna excitedly called when she walked into the restaurant. They sat at a table and ordered coffee and some eggs.

"So, I have some news," Anna said, as she took a bite into her toast. Cassie raised her eyebrows as she sipped her coffee, so Anna continued, "Roger and I...have a wedding date!" Cassie nearly spit out her coffee.

"When?" She quickly asked. Anna jumped up and down in her seat as she said, "November! November eighteenth!" Both girls nearly squealed in excitement, then Cassie said, "Finally! I've been waiting for this since you two got together in high school!"

Anna dreamily sighed, as she told her, "Me, too. Now I'm just waiting for your wedding." Cassie smiled and rolled her eyes. "Don't plan on that being anytime soon," she chuckled. Anna looked at her oddly, then asked, "Do you not see yourself getting married...at all?"

Cassie shook her head and told her, "No. No, just not anytime soon. I'm only twenty-six, he just turned twenty-nine...we've got time." Anna gave her a pointed look and said, "Not enough time. Soon, those eggs of yours are going to frizzle up and die!"

She was quickly and harshly shushed by Cassie. "Jesus, Anna," she laughed. "I don't even know if I want kids. I mean, I do, but I know I would be a horrible mom. Plus, I would never want them to find out what I went through. Why are we talking about this again? You are the one that needs to be focusing on baby making."

Anna shrugged and said, "True. Roger needs to get a baby in me, like, yesterday."

An hour later, Cassie was quickly walking into the school building. She an hour early, yet she was still rushing down the hall to get to her classroom. Each arm had a reusable bag (from her many shopping journeys to Target) filled with papers and some extra things she forgot when setting up the room over summer.

When she walked into the room, she set the papers up on her desk. then added the extra items to her desk. One was a framed picture of her and Ben on the Eiffel Tower, another of them on the London Eye. She even set the black glass dragon in between the pictures.

After sighing triumphantly, she set a copy of the syllabus on each of the desks, along with two pieces of jolly ranchers. After that, she went to her desk and started planning out the day. She wrote down everything they'd be doing, what time they'd be doing it, then wrote it up on the board.

She also wrote up a couple of words for them to define and a couple of math problems to solve, just to get their brains turning. By the time she was completely finished, the five minute warning bell rang and she practically squealed in excitement!

She opened her door and stood outside of the room. Anna was just across the hall from her doing the same thing and couldn't help but laugh at her friend's excitement. "Hi, guys!" Cassie excitedly said as the first of her students walked timidly up to the room.

"Go on in and find a seat," she kindly told them. They walked in and soon, more and more students filed behind them. Once the last student walked in, her and Anna looked to each other. "Good luck," Anna said with a smile.

As soon as Cassie shut the door to the classroom, she took in a deep breath, then said, "Morning, everyone! I'm Miss Hansen and welcome to fifth grade!"
