I woke up, the sun shining through the obscenely large windows. I groaned, feeling my head thumping. How much had I had to drink last night? I didn’t remember much.
I opened my eyes blearily and looked around to see no one in the room, aside from myself and Jenna. Then I nearly had a heart attack; Jenna was in my bed, sleeping innocently with my arm around her waist. Then, slowly, events of the previous night came back to me. Getting ready to go out, Trisha kissing me, dancing with Chrysta – probably the weirdest memory of my life – kissing Jenna…coming home with Jenna.
“Jenna,” I whispered in her ear, so she was annoyingly woken up.
“Mm?” she mumbled sleepily.
“You’re in my bed,” I told her, my voice sounding too loud in the otherwise silent room.
“I know,” she said, closing her eyes again. “Go back to sleep, it’s like early morning.”
I checked my watch on the bedside table. “Four thirty. Jesus Christ, is everyone still out?”
“Most parties they end up crashing at someone’s,” Jenna mumbled. “I want to sleep, Logan.”
“Yes, but I can’t remember much of last night,” I replied, panicking. “Jenna, did we…?”
“What?” Jenna asked, somewhat amused. “No, we didn’t. We were heading out, and then Jeremy and Tom caught up with us.”
I vaguely remembered this. “Right…”
“They took us to another club,” Jenna reminded me slowly. “We danced, we had a fair bit to drink and then Jeremy and Tom came home with us. But they crashed somewhere else, probably outside.”
“Oh,” I said, confused. “Why?”
“I don’t know, they were probably fucking in the gardens,” Jenna sighed. “Logan, I have to sleep.”
“How did you end up in my bed?” I asked her.
“I was cold,” Jenna shrugged.
I sat up, stretching. “I might get up and go for a run.”
Jenna reached out sleepily and pulled me back down. “Lie with me for a while. We only have until eight, and then the others will come in to get their clothes. Then I’ll have to get in my own bed.”
“Oh,” I said, realising what she meant; she’d have to get away from me in case of rumours. “Sorry, would you like to move now?”
“Trying to get rid of me?” Jenna asked.
“Not at all,” I said, smiling. “Trying to make your life easy.”
“I’m good for a while,” she sighed, taking my arm and wrapping it around her own waist. “Lie for a while.”
I smiled, and kissed her shoulder lightly. I saw a smile creep across her face. “Go to sleep,” I said gently. “I’ll wake you at half seven.”
“Okay,” Jenna said, and settled back down to sleep. She was very warm, and so I huddled up to her, my arm around her waist as I fell asleep against her back. The last thing I thought, before I drifted out of consciousness, was what Jamie was up to at that moment in time.
