Another chapter from Immy, sorry it took so long. We're both doing A-Levels, so both studying and stuff, only one more chapter and a epilogue to go, so watch out for it! Check Ims out via the ded!
“She looks so happy.”
I couldn’t get enough of hearing people say that. They kept repeating it, over and over again, but I wanted to hear it more. Jamie did look happy. And it was the first time in a long time that I’d heard people say something other than ‘is she alright today?’
“You look deflated.”
I turned to see Coby sitting by my side.
I laughed. “Yeah, I am deflated. Try dancing for three hours.”
“I had been dancing for three hours,” Coby rolled his eyes. “Susie took over about half an hour ago.”
I looked out onto the dance floor to see Susie trying desperately hard to control a hyperactive Seth. I grinned. “Where does he get his energy from?”
“I have no idea,” Coby sighed, slumping in his chair. “Where’s Jenna?”
“Dancing,” I said, indicating towards her and Chrysta, still going strong, their handbags in the middle of the floor.
“How?” Coby asked incredulously.
I sighed. “Lord knows. I give in.”
“Looks like the pathetic dance thing is a genetic quality,” Coby said, and I leaned my head on his shoulder. “What’s up, sis?”
“Nothing,” I sighed. “Just Jamie.”
“Yeah,” he said, and gently stroked my cheek. “I know.”
“I mean, I’m happy for her,” I said hastily. “Don’t get me wrong. But now…”
“Now what?” he asked.
I hesitated. “She’s Mrs Waverly. He gets her all to himself.”
“She loves you, Logan.”
“I know,” I said, and before I could finish my sentence, Seth crashed into my legs. “Hey, Seth.”
“Loh, come dance!” Seth said excitedly as another song came on. “Come on, I want to dance with you!”
I looked at Coby, who responded with a pleading look.
“You owe me,” I told Susie, who collapsed next to Coby as I got up.
She couldn’t speak from lack of breath, so she just nodded heavily and watched as Seth dragged me in the general direction of the dance floor. The song that was on was annoyingly fast, but I managed to withstand it for a few minutes before it changed.
“Oh,” Seth said, wrinkling his nose at the slow, steady tune. “This is boring.”
“No, it isn’t,” I said, thankful that there was a break. “Come here, we can dance like this.”
He let me pick him up and hold him like I used to when he was even smaller. His legs tightened around me, as did his arms, and I smiled as he relaxed in my arms. I swung him around to the music, hoping that it would calm him down, but obviously the energetic three-hour dancing session had completely tired him out because he fell asleep on me in seconds. Susie stood up when she realised that he was asleep, ready to walk over and take him home, but I held up my hand to stop her.
Instead of letting him go, I just held him until the end of the song. His hair was still sticking up in tufts like a lion’s mane, despite me trying desperately to tame it for the wedding. Strands of his hair tickled my nose, but it only made me hug him tighter.
