“Logan, will you get up?”
“Mm,” I mumbled into my pillow, only to have it taken away from me. I groaned. “Remind me why I’m living with you?”
Coby raised his eyebrows. “So you don’t almost die again? Look, you, you’re fit enough to be in college today and you’ve already missed over a month what with the sport camp and this. Get up and in that shower.”
“Mm,” I mumbled again, and found that my duvet was taken away. “You’re so going to die when I get up.”
“Well in the meantime, get in the shower,” Coby said, and then groaned. “Fine, that’s it.”
He picked me up, despite my struggles, and took me through into the bathroom. “Get in the shower,” he told me warningly, and I grumbled, but shoved him out of the room so I could change out of my pyjamas. The shower was already on, so I climbed in, shivering although the water was warm.
I heard a knock at the door, and yelled, “I still don’t like you, you tool!”
“Tool?” an amused voice asked.
“Oh, it’s you,” I said, laughing as I realised it was Jenna. “Sorry, give me five minutes; I’m just washing my hair.”
“That’s fine, I’ll wait out here!” Jenna called back, and I heard her sit down on the sofa-bed that was still in bed-form. I frowned; the room was probably a mess. I quickly washed my hair and switched the shower off, before climbing back out of the shower and wrapping a towel around me. I frowned as I had to tie it tighter than usual. I still hadn’t gained the weight back. I probably wouldn’t for a while.
“Hey,” I said, opening the door whilst I rubbed my hair dry with another towel. “Sorry about that, Coby didn’t wake me up in time.”
“Yes, I’m sure it was nothing to do with you,” Jenna said, grinning into the mirror as she applied eyeliner. “Sorry, I left the house in a hurry.”
“You don’t need it,” I said. “But I’m glad you’re leaving the contacts out.”
Jenna smiled and turned to see me, before blushing. “Jesus.”
“‘Logan’ will do,” I teased her.
She blushed. “I was expecting you to be dressed.”
I smirked as she looked me up and down. “Well, don’t stare,” I winked, but then felt a little gloomy. “Seriously, don’t. I look terrible.”
I knew I looked terrible; my skin looked bruised even though it wasn’t, and I looked exhausted although I’d had a full night’s sleep. I sighed, thankful that the towel was covering my ribs that were sticking out, painfully obvious now that my skin looked so pale and fragile.
“You look beautiful,” Jenna said to me firmly. “With or without a weird almost-suicide.”
I rolled my eyes. “I’ll get dressed, turn around.”
“Right,” Jenna said, turning around hastily. I smirked again, and walked over to my wardrobe.
“So why are you here?” I asked her.
“Well, I thought you might want me to go into the school with you,” Jenna said hesitantly.
I frowned. “Alright, why are you really here?”
Jenna sighed. “I didn’t want people to be asking me stupid questions all the way through the day. It’d make more sense if we just walked into school together and settled any rumours.”
