I wake up when someone is shaking me and calling my name. "Sunny. Wake up." It was Cam. I open my eyes and see I'm in a room on a bed. "Good, I got you some breakfast from downstairs. Your grandparents are finishing unpacking. They already ate. I did too."
"I thought you said you'd wake me up. We're here?"
"Yeah. I did, but you were sleeping. You had a long day. Your grandparents woke up when I stopped. So I carried you in and got them this apartment room. And everything's okay. And you're well rested."
I sit up. I eat my food and then we help my grandparents unpack what little they brought. I brought clothes, my phone, my beanies, the necklace my mom gave me, and every picture I have of me and my mom. My grandparents brought all the pictures of me and them. And I also got the pictures of me and Cam. "Okay, so when am I going to this Camp?"
"In an hour. We need to talk." Grandpa says.
"About what?"
"Apollo gave your mom something to give you when you were older." He starts to dig through his bag. He gets something out and gives it to me. It's a Sun Charm. "He got it to attach to that necklace your mom gave you." I get out the necklace and attach it. It comes together and puts the microphone charm my mom gave me in the center of the big sun. I put it on.
"I should tell him thanks if I ever see him. I love it."
My grandma smiles at me. "He also gave her this to give you." She digs through her own bag and gets out a bracelet with a button shaped like a guitar on it. "If you press it, it turns into a sword. You'll get trained how to use it at Camp Half-Blood."
I nod. We talk for an hour and then Cam gets up and says it's time to go. I put on a smile even though I was about to cry. I know I can visit them but I've never been without them. I hug them. "I love you guys. I'll visit often."
"We love you too. We want you to have fun. Be yourself. Don't change for anyone. And yes, come visit." My gram and grandpa hug me. Cam holds my hand as we walk out.
"Are you sure you're going to be okay?" He asks.
"Yeah, I mean this is awesome. I'm a demigod. Plus I can see my grandparents. And with that Cyclops attack, I think it's safer for them this way." We get in his car and he drives to a hill. He parks and we get out. "It may seem like just a hill but just wait until you see what's over it. It's invisible to mortals because of the Mist, it makes them make sense of everything. Like they'd see a sword as a gun or something. They see this as just a hill." I nod and put my bracelet on.
He takes my hand as we walk in. I see a sleeping dragon as we pass. I look ahead and see a huge camp. A forest, a beach, about 20 cabins, a rock climb thing that appears to also have lava, a mess hall, an amphitheater, a big house, and more. He leads me to the porch of the big house. As we walk, I get more nervous. I see people playing volleyball and campers all around.
When we get there I meet a centaur. Half-man and half-horse. Cam speaks up. "Chiron, this is Sunny Shay, she's a daughter of Apollo." I watch as Chiron and Cam have a conversation about my story.
"Come in, meet our Camp Director, Mr. D. Otherwise known as Dionysus." Chiron says. I step inside and meet a guy with black hair and purple eyes. Dionysus. I hold out my hand to shake but he doesn't take it. "This is Sunny Shay. She's a daughter of Apollo."
"Another stupid hero." Mr. D walks off. Chiron turns to me and smiles.
"Don't mind him. It's nice to meet you. Camberlin, you can get Percy Jackson to show her around. He's probably at the Long Island Sound. I think he'd be better to show her around. And she can make a friend."
