I wake up and get ready. I put on shorts with a Camp Half-Blood T-shirt. I put on flip flops and put my hair in a braid with a beanie on. I walk outside and go to Long Island Sound. I sit down and look out at the water. Somebody comes up behind me, but I didn't want to look behind me and see who was there. "Hello?" I keep staring ahead.
"It's just me." Leo comes and sits next to me. "How are you this morning, Ms. Shay?"
"I'm very good, Mr. Valdez. And you?"
"Very good, Ms. Shay. Very good." He kisses my cheek. "Now that I'm next to you."
I blush. "Gods, Leo, shut up."
"What? It's true." He smiles, biting his lip.
"You make me seem amazing or something." I smile and laugh.
He whispers in my ear. "You are." Then he smiles at me. "I will do something if you ever say you're not."
"What will you do?" I smile, knowing he didn't have an answer. He starts thinking and is just thinking for a few minutes. "I'm kidding, Leo." I grin.
"That was so wrong. I had to use my brain, just then."
"You should use your brain all the time." I giggle.
"No, I should use my brain when I need to think. Right now, I'm relaxing but when I have to think, I can't relax. So, therefore, being terribly wrong to make me think."
I stare at him for a second and then we both burst out laughing. After a little while of talking we have to go to breakfast. I eat with my cabin and then after breakfast, I meet up with Cam. "So, I've been thinking," He says. "I stayed up later last night so I could think of something to make you remember today."
"Did you think of anything?"
"Yes. I have no idea if it'll work but I guess we can try it. But I'm not ready yet. I'm still working it out. Spend the day with Leo and when I'm completely ready, I'm going to come and get you. Okay?"
I nod and hug him. "Thanks." He smiles at me and then walks off. I run to meet Leo. "Wanna spend the day with me?"
"Of course." He smiles. "So, what are we doing today? Training our brains, fighting a Roman, meeting our dads?"
"Sitting in front of your cabin."
"Well, that's a good place to start Ms. Shay. Shall we?" He slips his arm through mine and smiles down at me.
"We shall, Mr. Valdez, we shall." I grin.
We start walking towards his cabin. "You look very beautiful, as always, Ms. Shay."
"Thank-you. And you look very handsome, as always, Mr. Valdez."
"Stop lying, Sunny." He suddenly starts laughing. I stare at him. "I'm not handsome. I have no idea why you like me."
I stop and stare at him, raising my hand in slap-mode. "You're amazing, nice, funny, caring, a gentleman, a good listener, talented, smart, loveable, loving, a great friend, a great boyfriend, and very handsome. I have no idea why you can't see that. Leo, if you say that again, I will slap you."
I lower my hand and he hugs me. "I just want you to be happy. And I want you to fight for something that's worth it. I just don't think that's what I am." He whispers, burying his face in my neck.
I smile, hugging back. "Leo, I love you. You're worth it. A million times, you're worth it. You make me happy and you're worth fighting for."
He kisses my cheek, starting to let go. "I love you." Then he slips his arm through mine again. "Almost there, Ms. Shay." We get to his cabin and sit down. We sit there for a while, talking and laughing. "So, there I was, staring at this amazingly beautiful girl. You were just staring at me while I turned to you that first day. I said-"
