Chapter 34: Distractions & Interruptions.

Rydel's POV:

"Beth." I whined. "I feel like we have been walking for hours."

She giggled.

"It's only been fifteen minutes, silly! We're almost there." She answered.

We continued to walk and eventually Beth stopped us.

"Alright, prepare for something amazing." She said, smirking.

We all walked up a tiny hill, and there was the most incredible view of the whole city.

"Wow. Okay, now I get it. This was worth the walk!" I said, staring at the beautiful city.

We all enjoyed the view for about 20 minutes, and then, we realized how hungry & tired we were.

We drove to a fast food restaurant, and then, drove to the beach to eat our food.

After we finished eating, we continued chilling at the beach.

It was so beautiful. The sun was setting, causing a dramatic orange-ish pink lighting.

We were all sitting on the sand, talking, when I noticed Ross constantly looking at Beth. I could tell something was wrong. He looked so nervous!

I leaned over and whispered;

"Ross, you're staring. What's up?"

"Nothing. It's okay. I'm okay." He whispered back, not exactly making eye contact with me.

Bethany, Brea & Ratliff were talking.  So, I could talk to Ross.

"Look, I can tell when something is bothering you. What's wrong?" I whispered, again.

"I don't know... I've been thinking about telling Bethany about... my feelings for her..." He replied, still talking in a low voice.

I smiled.

"Tell her! Tonight is the perfect opportunity. It's so beautiful out, and she's in a great mood."

He slightly smiled and nodded.

"Thanks, can you help me with something though?" Ross said.

"Yeah, of course. What is it?"

"I don't wanna just walk over there and awkwardly take Beth away. Do you think you can distract Brea & Ratliff? So, it'll give us some time alone." Ross suggested.

"Oh! Yes, I will."

I said, then walked over and sat next to Rafliff.

Bethany's POV:

Tonight is going so great. I'm having so much fun with all my friends.

I was talking to Ratliff & Brea about hobbies and TV shows, when Rydel came up to us.

"Hey, Ratliff! Brea! Oh, and Beth!" She shouted, smiling.

She was acting a bit weird, but it's okay.

I realized I was kind of getting left out of the conversation. I decided to just look at the waves crash onto the amazing shore.

I looked around me, and noticed Ross. He wasn't talking much... I'm gonna go see him.

I slowly walked up to him, and sat down right next to him.

"Hey..." I said, my eyes still on the waves.

"Oh, hi..." He replied, and then, awkwardly looked down.

It looked like something was bothering him.

Something... Important.

Ross' POV:

As soon as Beth sat down next to me, I felt so nervous.

How was I gonna tell her? Tell her that I love her?

I decided to just go for it.

I mean, what's the worst that can happen?

"Hey... Can I talk to you? About something...important?" I said, nervously turning to face her.

"Yeah, what's wrong? You seem worried."

"Well, I just-"

"ICE CREAM TRUCK!!" Rydel shouted, cutting me off.

Everyone got up and ran to the truck. Except Rydel & I.

"What the heck was that?!" I said. "I was about to tell Bethany!"

"Oops... Sorry." She answered, then ran off.

I angrily followed her and we all bought ice cream.

As we were walking back to where we were sitting, Beth came and walked next to me.

"So, what were you saying?" She asked.

"Oh, right. Umm.. Well-"

"Oh, my!" Brea yelled and tripped over something, causing her to drop her ice cream.

Are you kidding me?!

"Oh, Brea!" Beth said, going over to help her up. "Are you okay?!"

"Yeah, thanks." Brea replied, frowning at her ice cream at the ground.

"Here, let's go buy you another ice cream." Beth suggested.

"Aw, thank you!" Brea answered, and then, they left.

Urgh.

Rydel, Ratliff & I all walked back to where we were sitting.

After about five minutes, Beth & Brea came back.

Bethany came to sit next to me, and said;

"Okay, sorry about that. I believe you were saying something?" She asked me.

I sighed.

"Yeah, actually. There's just-"

"Brad?!" She yelled, got up and ran towards someone.

"Hey, Bethany!" I heard someone, who was probably Brad, yell back.

Are you serious?

Guess I'm not telling her how I feel tonight...
