19 years ago, the kingdom of Castor was at peace.. until King Damaris married a young princess from the kingdom of Terrasen. The young girls parents were furious when Damaris wed their precious Elena. The lovers got married in secret because of Elena's parents. When the wedding was over, the parents vowed that whoever married into the Cordovan line; they would eliminate the royal bloodline. Elena was very happy with her new husband and bore a daughter 9 months later. She was so happy until they heard a banging on the door.
"Your majesty, you better hurry. They're coming!"
His wife drew a tear and kissed the infants forehead "I love you Emily, be safe."
Damaris wraps his daughter up in a pink blanket and holds her. He looks down from his brown hair and smiles, "you look so much like your mother."Elena holds her husbands hand and whispers in a week voice "promise me you'll keep her safe?"
He kisses his wife's forehead "I promise."
She asks, "let me see her one more time."
He lowers Emily as Elena places a necklace around the baby's neck. She glides her thumb over the blue amulet and sighs "to protect you."
Outside the door, the clash of swords could be heard as the king looks at his queen for the last time "I love you." He kisses her with all his might as she closes her eyes and leans back on the bed, "I love you too."Taking her last breath, her eyes drift shut as Damaris draws a symbol on the wall, when this man covered in blood kicks open the door with a knife in his hand. The portal opens as the man sees the king "I've waited a long time for this."
With the still-warm blood dripping off the tip of the blade, Emily makes a small whimper and curls in her fathers arms. The man smiles and looks at the baby, "you can't hide her for long Damaris."The king pulls her closer to his chest as the man walks toward him.
Damaris glances back at the young man "yes I can," as he steps through the portal. Looking back, Damaris has a tear in his eye as he sees the man stab his wife in the chest. The portal consumes him as a huge gust of wind picks up and transports the king to the small town of Louisville. His white tunic, black pants and his sword at his side, he pulls his cloak up to shield his pale face. Looking around the strange town, he walks down a row of houses until he stops at a brick mailbox. Seeing his daughter squirm in his arms, she opens her green eyes and yawns.Glancing at the egg shelled colored house, he walks up the steps and kneels down beside Emily.
"Come find me one day." Pressing his lips to her tiny forehead, he stands and knocks on the door. Walking away rapidly, he stops when he reaches the mailbox and mumbles "good luck.. Emily Cordova."
The king reaches the portal and steps through again, not realizing that he'll be lost in time forever. It consumes him as he sniffs and takes off his hood.Wiggling in her blanket, Emily closes her eyes and falls asleep as her amulet sparkles in the sunlight.
