Kadens POV
Waking up to Jefferson beaming his smile, I scream and push him away, "what the hell, man?!"
He jumps on my bed as I attempt to cover myself completely. Annoyed, he asks "do you know what day it is?"
Sarcastically speaking, "No. Tell me," he squeaks "the day I found you." Clearly excited, he asks if I even remember. Groaning, "I need sleep," I pull the white covers over my head.
He plops down utterly defeated, "come on, Mr. Kaden. It's the day I became yours, you do remember that, don't you?"
Nodding, I think back to when I was five years old and smile, "that was the best day ever."
Jefferson nods fast, "it was, you held me in your tiny hand."
Rolling my eyes, I exhale and take off the covers. Blinding Jefferson, he looks away "put some clothes on master, I have something special planned."
Hesitating, he gives me a look that makes me want to get dressed. Not complaining, I put on pants, a decent shirt and a jacket. Fixing my blondish brownish hair, I nod at my reflection and ask "where are we headed?"
"Don't ask questions and just trust me, for once." Hopping out of the bed, the squirrel walks out the door as I put my shoes on. Grumbling to myself, Jefferson has the tiniest smirk on his little face.Emily's POV
Opening my eyes again, I yawn and blink a couple times, just to make sure this is real. Glancing at the chair, I decide to poke his knee.
"Gavin," I mumble.
Rolling his head, his eyes open as he takes my hand. "You're up," he says in a sleepy voice.
"Yep. I just needed time to think," I chuckle.
Pushing himself out of the chair, he kneels next to me "I'm so happy that you're ok, Em."
"Me too."
Yawning, he asks "you didn't hear all that stuff I said, did you?"
"What stuff?" I ask.
He sort of smiles, "Anyways, how are you feeling?"
"Like hell. I just got stabbed, ding-dong." My face turns into a "are you kidding me," expression.
He sniffs lightly, "I knew that. You were out for quite a while."Concerned, I ask "how long?"
He estimates "I don't know. About 3-4 weeks?"
My eyebrows raise "that long?!"
"I told you, I'm bad at math. Numbers hate me."
I could tell Gavin's facial expression had changed from serious to relaxed. Gavin gets on one knee and kisses my forehead "You hungry?"
"Starved actually. Hospital food is the worst."
Looking at me, he exhales "Now you tell me that. I just had a snack from there," as he pushes my arm.
Giggling "sorry, bro," he stands up and walks toward the door. "I'll be back."
"Okay. If they don't have Doritos, get me-" Shutting the door, I mumble "Potato Chips."
Sighing, I sneeze as the door opens. Adjusting my position, I respond "Back that fast?"
Kaden nods "I just couldn't wait to see you."
Turning my head, Kaden winks and I pierce my lips, "what are you doing here."
He walks around my bed and sits down, "I just wanted to see for myself."
Hearing the door open again, I say "Gavin?"
"No." Jefferson squeaks.
I laugh a little, "Hi Big J."
"Hey Emily, how are you feeling?"
Breathing in and out slowly, Kaden gives him a glare and he shuts up. Yawning, Kaden stares at me, "What happened exactly?"
Eyes closed, I turn on my side "wouldn't you like to know."
Seemingly interested, he taps his fingers on my arm "Yeah, I would."
Trying not to get mad at what they did, Gavin comes back, "Okay, they didn't have Lays so I got Doritos."
Pausing after his third step, he throws me the bag of chips and stuffs both hands into his pocket and acts cool. Chuckling, he grins as Kaden speaks, "you must be Gavin."
Gavin stares straight at him with his hazel eyes "the one and only."
"Could I talk to you for a second? If Emily," Kaden looks at me "doesn't mind."
Exhaling, my eyes don't sparkle "Ok. For a second."
Kaden squeezes my hand, "Thanks." Getting out of his seat, Gavin walks out the door as Kaden follows.
Walking down the poorly lit hallway,Gavin crosses his arms, "what did you want to talk about."
Clearly annoyed, Kaden brushes the dirt off his shoulder, "You already know, genius."
Gavin looks irritated "No, not really."
"Emily."
"What about her?"
Kaden clears his throat "I know you slept with her."
Gavin's face holds back a laugh, " You're joking, right?"
For the first time in forever, Kaden forces a laugh.
"Hahahahaha,no." His face turns serious as Gavin rolls his neck.
"So what if we did, it's not like she likes me or anything. It was just once, calm down."
Kaden closes his mouth and touches his teeth tightly together. He chuckles "yea, sure."
"Don't believe me? Ask her yourself. And by the way, when have you slept with her?"
Going quiet, Gavin quirks "that's what I thought," as he walks back toward my room.Bouncing on his toes, Jefferson tries to whistle "Well, you look good."
Knowing how awkward this is for me, I blow hair out of my face, "Thanks. And for the record, why did you do it?"
Jefferson pauses and angles his head, puzzled. "What did I do?"
Closing my eyes, I hear my father say you can either do what's right, or just go on pretending it never happened. Your choice, Emily. Pick wisely.
Rubbing the wire in between my fingers, my green eyes look up at him "I know what you did that night at the garden. Don't try denying it, I have sources that tell me everything."
Jefferson scratches his arm lightly "what sources?"
I yawn and turn on my back, "It's a secret. Why did Kaden send you to end my life?"
Jefferson tries to explain, "The king wants the throne all to himself. He doesn't want any competition to get in the way of that."
I gulp down my repressed anger "His "competition?"
Nodding, I speak "I'm the Queen. This is my kingdom, if he wants to treat me like some competitor in a game, then so be it."
Jefferson looks at the door "He's not playing games with you, Em. All he wants is-"
My voice speaks harshly "Shut up!"
He stops talking as my cold glare stares at him, "You've done enough for one day, get out."
"But, I didn't want to kill you."
I pull the covers over my chest and roughly say "Does it look like I care. I said get out."
Jefferson squeaks " Right." Headed toward the door, Gavin pulls the handle and meets the squirrel face to face. Jefferson turns toward me and bows "Get well, "Your Majesty."
Gavin seems confused as Jefferson leaves. "What was that about?"
My eyes dim shut, "you have no idea."
