Emily's POV
Making my way into school the next morning, Cameron was standing beside my locker as I walk up. He smirks, "hey baby, do you wanna go to the dance with me?"
Opening my locker, I roll my eyes "ask someone who cares genius, besides weren't you supposed to go with Lexi?"
Running a hand through his spiky brown hair, he sighs "yeah, I am. I know she's your best friend and I would never hurt her, you have to believe that." Brushing a few strands of hair out of my face, I touch my blue amulet around my neck and close my eyes.
Turning to face him, I tilt my neck up to see him. With me being 5"4 and Cameron being 6 foot, I was basically chin level to him now. "Look Cam, I'm not saying you would never hurt my best friend; you're the nicest guy that I know at this school. You two belong together, it's a fact. Just ask her to the dance, everything will be fine; I promise."Smiling up at him, I close my locker and grab my backpack. "You're a great friend too, I just wanted to let you know that. But if you hurt Lexi, I'll break your face." Eyes shining in the light, Cameron smiles "I won't hurt her, you have my word Em," as he hugs me. Hugging him back, I blink and look at the time, 7:55; class starts in 5 minutes. Pulling back, I slightly blush "you should go find Lexi, good luck."
Walking into my classroom, I sit in my usual seat and get out my work materials for the day.
"Ms. Stanson, would you care to explain to the class what the war of 1812 did; just as a reminder for those who weren't paying attention?"
The teacher looks at me with his hands crossed behind his back as I say the correct answer. He nods "very good, would anyone like to add to that?"No one raises their hand as class ends. Grabbing their backpacks, they all march toward the door as I put my materials in my backpack. Headed toward the door, I say bye to the teacher and go to my locker. Slamming my bag down, I sigh and put in my combination. Hearing it click, I open my locker and grab my books for English as a figure slams my locker shut.
"Hey!"
He chuckles and leans on a locker, "I bet you scare easily Emily." Turning my head to see a built man with dirty blonde hair, my face goes red. "Landon?"
He winks with one of his hazel eyes and smiles, "you guessed right, so I have something to ask you."
Eyeing his red varsity jacket, I notice the year he's graduating, "2016? Nice varsity," I chuckle.
He nudges me, "quiet you, anyways you know homecoming is this weekend right?"
I nod, "yeah, what's it to you?"He scratches his neck, "I was wondering if you wanted to go with me since no one else will ask you."
My mouth drops open as I roll my eyes, "and why would I go with a jackass like Landon Carter. After all, you are the best drummer that I know of and guitar player."
He steps closer to me and holds my torso, "because I've seen the kind of person you are, and I like who you're becoming," as he brushes my hair back from my shoulder. I blush and sigh, "I'll think about it."
Heaving my bag onto my shoulder, I walk away and mumble, "could this day get any worse." Just my luck, Lexi runs up to me and hugs me, "you'll never guess what happened Em!" The twinkle in her blue eyes tells me it's something I need to know as I ask, "what?"
She takes in a breath and smiles, "Cameron asked me to homecoming!!"
I smile and hug her, "that's amazing, y'all are perfect for each other."
She blushes, "thanks girl, now we just need to find you a date and we're all set."Kaden's POV
Feeling the wind rustle my brown hair, I blink and lean back on a tree. Closing my eyes, I sigh and wonder if I could just stay out here forever. At that moment, I hear a crunch of dead leaves and open my eyes as I spot a deer. I look at my sword and raise an eyebrow, should I kill the deer? It's fresh game after all; oh what the heck, I'm the crown prince.
Unsheathing my sword, it shines in the afternoon sunlight as I eye the deer. It eyes me as we have a little stare down. Walking forward slowly, as not to frighten the deer; I grip the hilt and pull my arm back about to strike. Seeing an arrow whiz by my head and plunge into the deers head, I spin around and glance up at my uncle. His shoulder length gray hair flowed in the wind as he nods and trots off to receive his prize.
Kaden growls deep in his throat, "that was my kill."
His uncle gets off his horse and looks at his nephew, "our dinner for tonight. Your welcome."
Kaden storms toward his uncle, "I could've gotten that, but you had to. I'm going to be king one day whether you like it or not; and I always get what I want."
The uncle sighs and hoists the deer up onto his horse, "have I taught you nothing?"
Kaden smirks, "you taught me plenty uncle. You taught me how to fuck a woman properly."Striking the back of the young princes head, the uncle hisses "by God nephew, is that all you think about!"
Kaden shrugs, "you can't do anything about it anyways, you're lower then me."
The uncle gets back on his horse and grabs the reins, "just so you know, I would be careful what you say.. nephew." Just like that, he trots away, leaving the smirking prince in the forest.
